Was sifting through my bitz box and found the body of an old warhammer chaos dragon.

It still has its legs but one of the heads (the chaos dragon had 2) had gone missing or been given away as had the wings.

It just so happens that I need a dragon for a wood elf army so this was a good starting point.

Time to see what else I can find in the bitz box of doom.

Lumps of dragon including a rather swish neck and head from the oakbound studio wyrm should be perfect for a grumpy forest dragon

I'm going to need a solid base so looked up the new base size and cut a lump of Cork to size added some lumps of wood then using coffee sticks to create the sides I slapped in some filler to male a nice solid stable base

I kind of wanted a wiggly dragon rather than the gw lump, so cut up the tail and drilled some holes to attach some gardening wire to create the shape and did the same for the neck.

I can now bend the dragon to shape and use greenstuff to fill in the gaps

It was then a matter of building up the neck with green stuff and trying to make it match the rest of the model. The scales were formed using the end of a paintbrush cover pushed I at an angle, the wires were added to build the spines around

It was then time to build up the twisty tail with milliput and to build up the gpines along the back with greenstuff. I also added a tree made from twisted wire and making tape covered in milliput. This was added so the dragons arm can rest on it making it nice and stable, I also fancy the idea of the elf rider running along the arm into the tree to attack from above

The wings were going to be tricky gw wings are crazy expensive.

I decided to try building my own.

I drew the shape I was after making a template from some card then using the metal from a tomato puree packet I made the basic shape that could be bent to the shape I needed.

For the outside edge I rolled the edge of the metal over some gardening wire leaving a bit of wire sticking out to attach to the dragon.

Details were then added to the wings with milliput.

Once the wings were attached green stuff was used to build up the body where they attach.

Once the wings were set they were coated in modge podge for two reasons, the paint should be less likely to scratch off the modge podge and it will provide a less even surface so hopefully the wings should look more organic.

The dragon and rider ready for a splash of paint. The rider is an eldar harlequin with the scifi bits removed and some fantasy style weapons added

Now just need to let the undercoats dry then I can splash on some colours, I want to get this chap and the rest of the army painted by the weekend as have a 3000 point old world game before undercoating the model I gave the dragons body and the tree a coat of typhus corrosion technical paint to give some texture that should be picked out when drybrushed
