About the Project

Space Hulk Tactics Hobby Challenge... "Wild Walls Set #3: Alien Habitats: Giegeresque Corridors and Rooms for use with science fiction wargames and RPGS" OK, I must have bought these 25 years ago, sometime in the early '90s, from my FLGS when I was in college. And of course I got them on clearance. Like with everything else in this pricey hobby, I never pay full price! The package has $14.50 crossed out and it looks like I paid $5.75 for "Over 25 feet of detailed corridor/wall sections!" And of course I bought two packages at that price! So it's time to finally put these beauties together and paint them up.

Painting of the first 7 walls was a straightforward affair. The first two images show walls with base colors (green, purple, blue), which took a couple of coats to get good and solid. Image 3 shows the walls after highlights were applied (yellowish green, reddish purple, light blue).

Then I managed to recruit a few Terminators to pose by the walls, and wouldn’t you know it by the final pic some Genestealers had sprung an ambush. Never fails…

So that’s the first 7 walls done, out of 28 total, so 25% of the way there. Now I have to decide what other colors I should go with. I’m thinking a pukey pink for sure. Maybe an orange? Anyone have any ideas?

As for the floor, I already have some ideas for that…

Wall Assembly

OK, these are really simple, you can see the sheet of walls in the first image, and then after they are cut apart in the second. Then you cut out one section of foam core for each two pieces of wall (one for each side) and trim the foam core so it is just slightly smaller than the wall pieces (third image).

Super glue one wall piece to each side, then cut and glue four little pieces of the plastic frame from the wall sheet to use as feet under the wall. Genestealers used for scale purposes only (and they didn’t appreciate it) in image four >8^)

Next will come the painting in nasty, pukey, Tyranidy colors…

And the back of the label

Here's the back of the label, showing that you're supposed to attack these with a hobby knife. The walls, not the Genestealers, that would be ill-advised.Here's the back of the label, showing that you're supposed to attack these with a hobby knife. Here you can see the price tag, marked down from $14.50 to $5.75! So I bought both packages >8^)Here you can see the price tag, marked down from $14.50 to $5.75! So I bought both packages >8^)

This is a close-up of the label, which includes a pic of the walls and some Genestealers (used without GW license, I assume...)This is a close-up of the label, which includes a pic of the walls and some Genestealers (used without GW license, I assume...)
