About the Project

I love Infinity and I'm a big fan of Yu Jing in particular. Regardless of what I say I'll be painting them all up. I'll post my progress here.

I’m putting this on hold for now. I have some other bits to finish but as far as Infinity goes:

1, I’m starting a new faction for an escalation league.
2, I’ve painted Kaldstrom but I’ll be using that in a different project.
3, I’ve got Defiance incoming.

Not sure when I’ll get time for my beloved Yu Jing.

Lacking a particular colour recommended for the skin base tones I went with thin glazes of a mix of:

– Vallejo Model Colour Orange Brown 70.981

– Vallejo Model Color Sunny Skin Tone 70.845

I then moved on to adding:

– highlights with Sunny Skin Tone.

– glazes in the darkers areas with Orange Brown mixed with Flat Earth 70.983.

– glazed the lips with Cavalry Brown 70.982.

For the hair I basecoated with:

– Vallejo Game Color Hexed Lichen 72.015

Next I picked out strands of hair using:

– Vallejo Model Color Blue Violet 70.811

Finally I picked out higher portions of the highlighted strands with Dead White,

Daofei Sword And Camouflage

Beginning with the sword I’ll have to confess I’ve forgotten which green I used. I used the airbrush to add progressively smaller areas of green progressing to white.

The Daofei’s camouflage I didn’t try anything clever. I basecoated using:

Game Color Cold Grey 72.050

Then I added blotches of the following colours:

Vallejo Model Color Dark Grey 70.994

Vallejo Model Colour Pale Blue 70.904

Vallejo Dead White

Green Cloth Areas

I began my figures by priming them black and preshading them. To get these figures done quickly I just tried tinting this preshade in a couple of ways.

The Corvus scheme uses a mix of:

Vallejo Game Colour Heavy Black Green 72.147

Vallejo Panzer Aces Periscopes 309

I mixed these as a thin glaze and addd layers depending on how strong a colour I wanted.

For the Kuang Shi I felt their uniform had a more standard military green. I added thin layers of:

Vallejo Model Color Military Green 70.975

Dark Metallic Areas

Normally I’d airbrush some transitions for metallic areas but I wanted to try and do this using the brush. I used the following colours:

– Vallejo Model Air Black 72.751

– Vallejo Game Color Cold Grey 72.050

– Vallejo Game Air Dead White 72.701

Beginning with black I layered up using a mixed tone between the pure colours. I.e. black, black + cold grey, cold grey, cold grey + white and white. The finish was ok and looks decent from a distance.

I began by airbrushing Vallejo Orange Brown 70.981

After I airbrushed at a higher angle with Vallejo Scrofulous Brown 72.038

Then I finished with a mixture of Scrofulous Brown and Vallejo Dead White 72.701

Where airbrushing wasn’t suitable I used the brush, making transitions using the same range of colours.

The final stages were to:

– deepen shadows using thinned layers of Cavalry Brown 70.982.

– line armour panel grooves in Cavalry Brown.

– edge highlight with white.
