About the Project
More Blood Bowl related nonsense. Having almost completed my Chaos All Stars team (I still am waiting some star players from a recent Kickstarter campaign), I was looking around to see what other teams I could start. I already have a Skaven team who I occasionally add miniatures too, and I toyed with the idea of starting to collect a Reikland Reavers team based upon the fact I like the new Zug and Griff Oberwald Forgeworld figures. However around the same time I was looking at picking up some Chaos players from Willy Minatures recent Kickstater I saw that Star Player Store (another Spanish company) had launched their own Human Team. Now the sculpts on these are excellent, I really prefer them to GW’s Human players, however the design of them doesn’t lend themselves to Reikland what with the enormous Lion heads everywhere. So I decided to collect a few and create my own Human Team. However my experience assembling my Chaos All Star team has found me not wanting to just buy / paint some figures, so I want to make these equally as diverse in their make up.

Step 3 - Team starts to take shape
So the other players we have initially picked up are as follows:
Star Player Stores version of the Mighty Zug, Zara the Slayer, and their Karla Von Kill.
Having done a bit of research on Karla and Zara it would appear looking at their stat lines, that Karla has basically replaced Zara in the latest version of Blood Bowl. Exactly the same stats / skills just without the stab and stakes skill.
Now as the likelihood of me player any games of Blood Bowl is very remote, I am happy to throw Zara back in the mix.
Also my plans for the team mean I need another female player anyway to portray Crazy Lil from Mean Team so there is room for both.
Unfortunately Karla has suffered a fair bit of damage in transit from Spain, and has lost nose. I try to sort this with some green stuff (Unsuccessfully) but I think the extensive highlighting to her face hides it a little (unless you check her out in profile!).
I will upload some pics of the two Female Players on another update once they are finished.
Step 2
We have bought 4 players so far for the new team.
However the fact that the Star Player figure labelled “Lion” has put me in mind of Matt Tallon has inspired me to try and create a team based upon the characters from Mean Arena.
However I can only really find images / names for 10 players. Most of which or largely human in appearance. So it’s not going to give me the diverse range and fun of collecting and painting a team similar to my Chaos All Stars.
However another sporting strip in 2000ad which was published after Mean Arena was Mean Team. All about a group of prisoners on a different plan competing in a dangerous game to earn their freedom.
These where made up of a robot, an alien, and a guy who had his brain transplanted into a Black Panther. This seems like a good basis for a Blood Bowl Team!
Step 1
I have started off by collecting some of their Star Players with a view to expanding and adding more figures later. They have a proxy Mighty Zug, a Karla Von Kill (which is better than Forgeworld’s I think) and Zara the Slayer who I don’t remember from earlier iterations of Blood Bowl, but I know features in the PS4 video game.
Their male star player is a billed as Lion on their page, you can see him below sporting Russell Crowe’s helmet from Gladiator. What he also put me in mind of was Matt Tallon from 2000ad’s Mean Arean, which has subsequently inspired me to try and create a team themed around players from that, and also 2000ad’s later sports strip Mean Team.
