More terrain!

As sad as the closure of my FLGS is the clearance sale really gave me a deal on both the speeder bikes sets and the imperial bunker.

Soon after unpacking I found that one small piece (number 8 or 9) was missing (Nooooooooooooooooo!) and everything else was fine and straight. No bends or broken things.

Huge chunks of plastic that needed to be assembled.

And from here on I went a bit of the road whilst listening to @warzan doing his radio show… Magnets everywhere! The back and top got magnets and even the little terminals got magnets. The straight ones could hide the magnets inside but the angled ones needed holes drilled. I hope I can hide them later with filler and paint.

It all snaps together beautifully.

…and wuuuush. That was a quick and “dirty” paintjob on two sets of speeder bikes. These are the first units I bought since release of SW:L without me buying the same amount and type of the complementing rebel troops. So this officially now tips the scale to the Empire.

As it should be.

Still have more then enough units for a game of 800 points for each side ๐Ÿ˜‰

First step is priming the scouts white and the bikes black. That’s 50% of the work done. After that all metal parts on the bike (and the handlebars on the scouts) get a coat of a 50/50 mix boltgun metal and black.

Leave to dry over night.

Happy Sunday!Happy Sunday!

Next: paint the bikes brown, the sleeping bags grey and the black parts on the scouts black. Let dry again.

Bases painted black and unit colours get a prepping white. After that red and blue.Bases painted black and unit colours get a prepping white. After that red and blue.

Everything ready to be varnished.

And done. For some odd reason this is the first time the varnish has had a bit of a frosted effect but only on the edges making it look like intentional weathering. I’ll leave it at that. maybe touch up the black gloves on the scouts but currently I call them done. ๐Ÿ™‚

Incoming!

No I haven’t forgotten SW:L but with all the “human malware” running around there wasn’t much miniature painting done. So here is the latest thing: R2 and Golden Boy.

Building was really easy.

The little droid were done rather quickly with simple colours and a silver leg. (Can be seen better in the later pictures)

Of course we can’t forget the pod and its crater. Oh and on the inside of the pod and the underside of the crater there are magnets. So the crater can be used a simple terrain as well.

And here is the final result

Stormtroopers, they don’t get any easier to paint then this!

Prime white, pick up details, done. Seriously, it’s that simple. At least if you only aim for ok’ish tabletop standard like I do ๐Ÿ˜‰

Imperial Stormtroopers Upgrade Expansion

Now the “picking out parts” part.

Assembly, painting bases and then a coat of varnish

And then some glossy varnish on Vader and Luke. There will be some glory shots with Lloyd poses later. Promise ๐Ÿ˜‰

And here are the nice photos including mandatory Lloyd shot.

Operatives - Quick and dirty

Well Vader and Luke as operatives are… very monochrome? Mostly black. So prime them black and be nearly done. And the Trooper Upgrades get primed white of course.

Operatives - Quick and dirty

So here is Vader with a hint of blue, boltgun metal and red.

Since painting on black is not my best…. have some white base coat.

And then some pink flesh, brown and green. (Can’t give you colour names here because they where mushed up on the fly and I didn’t make notes…. this will bite me in the ass sometime in the future XD ) Almost done. Just some varnish and a bit of shiny parts later.

Took FFG long enough to sort the bases ๐Ÿ˜‰ So here are my first steps into the dewback.

Putting everything on the priming stick

Someone more wise than me once said:

“It’s not easy being green”

Yeah, painting such a large surface with pure Dark Angel Green really didn’t go that well.

Dewbakle aftermath

Well, just add some layers more! We’re getting somewhere.

The belly got sand coloured and the Stormtrooper got his colours blocked in. After that: partial assembly. Next stop: details, highlights and washes.

See the belly?See the belly?

Aaaand I hit a hobby road block…. couldn’t get my ass motivated very much so only just today I finished the Dewback and his rider. Washed it with a 50:50 mix of Agrax Earthshade and Lahmian Medium, let it dry and then a zenithal dry brush it with Goblin Green. Glue rider in place, make glory shots.

Done!

Sabine Wren and Bossk

So after much hustle with the uploads (Reminder so self: never upload more than 5 pictures at once!) here are Sabine Wren and Bossk. They took me 3 evenings and they really are easy to paint.

For Sabine I went with a paint job after my Disney Infinity figure I have. Since she looks ever so different in the animated series having the model as point of reference was great.

Enjoy!

TANKS!

So now I have my hands on the TX-225 GAVw Occupier Combat Assault Tank 100x177mm base), the X-34 Landspeeder (100mm base) and still need to fit the 1.4 FD Laser Cannon Team (100mm base) and the E-Web Heavy Blaster Team (70mm base) I really need to build another layer.ย  So let’s max this out ๐Ÿ˜‰

Buy all the things!Buy all the things!

But at first I must plan and do a sketch.

scribbletuff!scribbletuff!

And because nobody can use that we will redo it with CAD. MAKE ALL THE THINGS!

But wait, there is more! But wait, there is more!

And it grows....

So now I had to add a 4th layer because I ran out of space… the thing is, when the tank and speeder will be released: I’ll need a 5th. XD

The two gun emplacements are currently without a tray. I’ll keep from building new one until I have the tank with the “weird” base. Just to make sure I get the measurements right.
