Soooooo its been a little while since my last update (my bad!) i managed to somehow turn off notifications and also have a poorly family but moving on.

Ive more or less finished Big Blue! actual name Libertas but who are we kidding right? pretty pleased with it! its now leading me to try and airbrush everything I can get my paws on. (including going back over terrain and adding burn marks etc that was demonstrated during the actual hobby weekend)

More photos will follow and this was just my first chance to actually do an update.

So here we go on Sunday wooowoo!

Pretty happy with my work this weekend, will put up a pic of the force as is before the end so I can keep track of what i’ve achieved.

I had my first go with airbrushing today! I recently quit smoking (2 months now) and was amazed that this left me money to get an airbrush! So I’ve been using it on the crusader knight. My next stage is masking etc but so far I just primed with leadbelcher and then have done the blue sections with citadel kantor blue.

My cultists are working away nicely (had to make at least some for this weekend obv) although I do wonder if they are a bit bright, I might try and darken them down with some dark tone or something. I’m also carrying on with Gerry and roberts advise with the different tones so ive got some different plaguebearers, this was done by doing the usual white primer, then green wash and then plaguebearer flesh ontop of that. If anything I think I might prefer them!

finally i’ve put up an image from last night, whilst watching the quiz the mrs decided to get involved (despite having been out and smashed it at the footy winning 5-1, i’m glad one of us is sporty!) she’s been fully onboard this weekend and has started work on two marines which I will also carry on updating pics of. I believe it was white primer, followed by the purple contrast Magos purple but she thought it was a bit too plum so then topped it with phoenician purple.

anyway enough rambling from me and carry on with the weekend!

Ok so disclaimer on these pics, they are not related to the weekend. They are 40k but i’m putting them up purely because as I said previously i’ve now actually figured out how to upload pics the right way through my phone (its a summer miracle!)

so they are just pics of my fav models i’ve done so far etc and other things i’m working on etc, i’ve kept it all 40k, might make a different project for bolt action and other things eventually.

PS: ive also notived that grey stuff at the bottom of the light box, its actually paint because its built into my spray booth and I think its trying to tell me to change the filter.

Ok folks, so the weekend is fast approaching!

Due to work (roll on that lottery win!) i’m only back for like half the day saturday, so i’m mainly going to be involved sat evening and sunday (so i’ve made a little more progress building and painting than I originally intended)

so the following is listed:

My Knight crusader which ive finally assembled and actually remembered to keep it so I can move the arms (in theory I spose you can switch the arms out as needed but the shoulder plates get in the way, plus my two playmates mainly run horde armies)

my drones. So an interesting one with this as I tried contrast paints! I also LOVE contrast paints for certain elements. I didn’t expect plaguebearer flesh to be quite so yellow in terms of paint, but I found it works really well for the membranes on the wings, and I used the turquoise for the carapace. That being said I had also attempted to use some incubai darkness (which I had thinned myself and put into a dropper bottle and basically made a whole load really funky because of the thinner I used). So in the pics one is mainly painted with contrast paints and the other two were the previous paints. still some work to do on them but they are getting there.

My green horde grows! i’m loving the way the blood and guts stand out so much against the green wash skin, although I wonder if I then use a shade would that totally trash the skin? would it be better to just shade the guts etc and leave the overall skin alone?

Its also made me kit bash galore! so i dug in my bits box and found some beatmen parts, genestealer cult and mechanicum parts and slapped them all together. I think it can basically make 1x unit of 10 with hand weapon and pistol and 1x unit of 10 with autoguns (if I use them as cultists) so they are also going to be worked on.

death guard green coat followed by green tone.

i’m loving the difference that just the change in primers gives and im not sure which ones I prefer. Might keep with the variety!

I also now know that my pics will be the right way up if I take them landscape on my phone (I just have to remember to do that!)

So this is my first posting.

Not very many pics or much to say so far as today is 6 year anniversary so will be brief!

First off it turns out that our lad Osian is a huge fan of the show! Early brainwashing has now begun.

Secondly as well as my digital weekend stuff (which has arrived, pic should be the header) the mrs surprised me this morning with a knight!! I’m thinking of going crusader as my friend plays orks and the idea of using a gatling to even out the field deffo appeals!

Finally is my tester for my plaguebearers. I’m quite happy with the result (aside from the nurgling) as it was quick. Primed white and then painted with green tone for the basic skin colour and then just blocking the other colours ontop. (If people like I can list the colours used). The severed head needs a dark wash I think unless I can think of something to make it look more rotten. The base was done with the citadel texture (stirland battlemire, then a dry brush of tyrant skull, followed by caliban green in the recess topped with nurgles rot).

anyway thats it so far but thoughts and comments always welcome.
