About the Project

I have decided to revisit all my colonial miniatures and give them a bit of love after being stored away in the Garage for so long. I have four armies that need a tidy up and revisit some 19th century theaters of war and why the hell were we there? "Because we're here lad,no body else, just us"

This time I’ve looked at the two Joneses who helped defend the hospital and evacuate the patients while holding off the Zulus. So these two stands are hospital focused.

These two stands represent colour Sgt Bourne who didn’t get the VC but the distinguished service medal. I have given him a bugler. Hitch was shot in the arm so tied his arm down with his belt. Chard handed him his pistol to use in his good hand.

For my games of Rorkes Drift im organising the defender’s into twelve stands of four mini’s each. I’m going to try and theme each stand around the various VC winners. Theses two are based in Henry Hook helping patients escape the hospital and surgeon Renalds administing aid. The two commanding officers will act as solo minis. I like the Perry miniatures interpretation of the. Below. Bromhead was a bit deaf so Chard is shouting in his ear.

I've had theses minis for some time with the intention of doing something steampunk with them but I might expand on my Indian range. I have a small thuggee force who would strangle to death travelers on the road with yellow silk scarves. These figures from pulp miniatures are based in the thuggee from Gunga Dinn. The three sergeants are also from the film and appear in a few Kipling tales. Although the film is set in the late 18th century the British did most of their anti thuggee activities in the 1840s.I've had theses minis for some time with the intention of doing something steampunk with them but I might expand on my Indian range. The legend of Malalai
According to legend at a critical moment at the battle of maiwand the afghans began to loose heat under sustained British volley fire. She removed her veil and rallied the men. According to legend at a critical moment at the battle of maiwand the afghans began to loose heat under sustained British volley fire. She removed her veil and rallied the men. "Young love! If you do not fall in the battle of maiwand, by God someone is saving you as the symbol of shame" she picked up a fallen banner and sang. She was shot dead moments later. Did this happen? Who knows but it gives Afghanistan a female heroine that I think the country needs. Today the highest award for women is the Malalai heroine if maiwand medal

So with a hundred afghans to paint I've started my first unit of 25 ghazni fanatics who wore a lot of white so these are proving quick to do with contrasts. I'm going over the flesh tones with wildwood in an attempt to get a good skin tone. These chaps stick to melee weaponsSo with a hundred afghans to paint I've started my first unit of 25 ghazni fanatics who wore a lot of white so these are proving quick to do with contrasts.
