About the Project
Starting early on the Defiance front, waiting and hoping for the Kickstarter completion. This will log everything along with wildfire which I got for the sole reason to get a head start on Defiance. Everything will be backwards compatible with infinity but I am hoping to document everything from painting to playing and then expanding it with some home brew goodness.

The start of a new adventure.
This is the start of a new adventure in the world of infinity. I cant wait for the Kickstarter to be fulfilled. As soon as it was over I went out and got Valkyrie. Just finished painting it today which marks the start of my defiance project.
My hope is to document the painting, playing, expansion through home brewing scenarios and possibly a campaign for this game.
I want to make each model unique. For my infinity models each one has a base like not exactly like any other.
I will be making base toppers for all my defiance mini’s but keeping them compatible with Infinity.
I started this process out using Valkyrie as a test model and used the tile from the demo game to make a base for her by taking some elements and making them 3D for the base using fusion 360
I got operation wildfire to get a head start as well. This will be the first larger part of the project. This should give me a boost in getting things done for defiance. This is the second time of me putting this together last time I got logged out when posting. Providing this posts there will be more to come.
Base Bass Buttery biscute Base.
So it was time to get my bases sorted at least for Wildfire.
I powered up Fusion 360 took a look at the new tiles that Corvus showed us on the kick starter and got to emulating the designs as best I could.
Now I had my bases done I went ahead and 3D printed them. Sadly all I had was translucent green resin. So I used it. I altered some of the bases as a few of the models had foot on rock. I done this with plasicard, wire and bits box.
As I Add to the collection they will be here for you to 3D print if you wish. There will be a unique base for every model. (not model specific) So far I have done 9 with the defiance looking tiles and 7 with Shasvastii looking ones. I am going to add a pail blue and a red purple for the Shasvastii as spot colours. (you will see bad discription).
I cleaned and pinned all the models. This took forever but hopefully will only need to be done once. I have dropped a couple with no issues.
After this I went in and zenith primed the models.
I painted two models then decided to black colour the rest. I am copying Angel’s theme and looking at what each section was painted took longer than painting it. This sped things up considerably.
More to come! very shortly.
Finished painting the O-12 I have so far.
So this was quite fun to paint don’t think I managed to get the contrast I was looking for in the blue and I cheated painting the gold. When I may cheat I used much thicker paint than you really should when doing this to cut down the amount of layers. It made it go much faster and gave a good table top result.
I used English uniform as a base, Japanese uniform as the first highlight and then ice yellow as a 2nd highlight. I then went in with Sepia ink as the first shadow and black ink as the second shadow. Sadly I think I got better at this to more I painted. Just as I finished this Angel put up a fantastic Video showing him doing this… No not doing it again.
More O-12
Having to add this over a few updates. Thoughts while I was doing this was how much I like my bases. They do not detract from the models at all. They are not moving over assault courses just trying to cross a section of a room. But they add something. Much like the small lighting effect (which was blue green mixed with matt vanish then ice blue with matt vanish) the more you put on the stronger the colour. Along with the contrast red orange and black chalk pastels fixed with pigment fixer.
So that’s O-12 done I may order the advanced pack and beyond Wildfire though. This will mean that when Defiance gets here I will be able to have a full O-12 force. (and a Shasvastii force).
Overall very pleased and I hope this will cut down on the painting that will be required right away when Defiance hits.
Talking of Shasvastii, they are next. Cant wait but going to not paint today time for a days rest.
More to come.
Shasvastii
With lots of home time on my hands I have been cracking on with finishing off wildfire to go with Defiance when it comes. This took my to my first “Alien” Infinity models, the Shasvastii. I have to say I thought the models were meh when looking at them. Contemplated ebay, but it looks like everyone done that and they are quite cheap. After looking at them properly and painting them my opinion has completely changed. Love the look of them and they are very fun to paint. I don’t think I cracked the “proper” scheme with the red I used supposed to be very pink in places. When I went pink I went to far and had to move it back couldn’t get the same balance. Still very pleased with the results.
More Shasvastii
Still quite pleased with the bases. Plane enough for my tastes. Thought he thought of now making a base for each model I paint is a little crazy but this probably isn’t much different than sculpting a base for each model I done before, at least in terms of time.
Overall very pleased with the outcome and glad to paint aliens for a change. Much more enjoyable than I expected. IO think this is a start of a combined army force for me. So much so I have ordered the parts to the Morat section for the expansion of Defiance. I needed something to paint and the thought of painting Space monkeys fills my heart with Joy (even though I have paid more for them than through the KS). I also may have the advanced pack, Alpha and beyond Wildfire pack coming. I love these two forces probably for the best as the combined army forces in defiance are substantial.
More to come.
Morat Reinforcement Pack
So in my impatience for Defiance I went ahead and got the individual parts for the Morat Reinforcement Pack. I didn’t get this through the kick starter but I was swithering on it. So I got the two boxed sets and 3 blisters that gets me the models. This will give me a start should I wish to play these in infinity but I just couldn’t resist some space monkeys.
Overall I was surprised at the sculpts they are a little old. a couple of great ones. Sadly foot on rock was prevalent, meaning some more base work on them to get them to fit in.
The hungeries boxed set was the most surprising. I would have thought Corvus Belli would have chosen simpler models to assemble for Defiance (these were complex with certain parts to cut off for a certain pose. I was also shocked to have to glue on and paint 4 alien penises onto the model, felt like I was getting trolled. This also left me with basing work to do I tried to paint sparks, this didn’t go as planned and looked better as a fire trail. Only simple way of making them fit on a base with roots moulded to small sections of the model
Morat Reinforcement Pack Pt2
Pleased with the result in the end. I did enjoy painting more organic creatures with the Hungries. these were a challenge to assemble but the painting was quick and therapeutic. They did remind me of the old Games workshop Hormagaunts which whenever my opponents turned up none ever had arms attached…
Time will tell they are all pinned because of this.
Well I have got beyond Wildfire and the old advanced pack with so a few more O-12 and Shasvastii and that will be me until Defiance arrives. The project will be on hold until then. So hopefully next week those should be done.
More to come.
