About the Project

After having played a few games of Crisis Protocol ive decided its good enough to warrant a paint job. Completely different to what im used to doing so keeping my goals relatively low. Just need them to be table ready, lets see what happens!

This Project is Active

Next up will be the metals, i think gold / bronze paints are going to be to full on so am going to replicate how i did it on Valkyrie and just use a quickshade with no medium to tint the metal rather than block colour it.

DISASTER! I have now realised the weird green i used for the cape doesn’t seem to like washes! Tried a thinned down green and a soft tone but it just looks naff. I admit defeat and repaint the base colour on the cape. Ill come back to it once i work out how to shade it! Please feel free to suggest!!DISASTER! Well there he is. Not 100% happy as his colour scheme is so alien to the way i usually paint. I will advise the key to this one is patience as with the various layers of contrasting colour if you’re a speed painter like me it can prove to be quite challenging!

i think this os one ill come back to another time to tidy up

As i have a tournament tomorrow i wanted to get Winter Soldier done as he has a rather nifty trait that allows him to join any of the affiliated teams. Annoyingly i primed the model without my glasses on and the spray has gone down a bit heavy. As previously mentioned the Asgard crew definitely seem to have a step up in detail. Whilst i love this model i am definitely dreading the complex shape of this one added to the many fine armour details of her costume. Still i want to get her on the table so time to dig out some greens and get the mighty Hela done!As previously mentioned the Asgard crew definitely seem to have a step up in detail. Okay only three colours but by Christ i ballsed up spraying Black! The two greens (especially Jungle) are awful for going over black. The smoke to an age to finally get enough coverage. Advice from me would be a light primer and hand paint the black. Would have saved me so much time. Also i find when i hit a model that’s already daunting me, the additional annoyance of bad planning can really suck the enthusiasm out of a project. Important thing is to not get to dispirited, take a break from it but dont leave to long. Thankfully having it as a visible project really helps me to keep focussed on getting it done.

DrybrushDrybrush

Went quite big with the green wash (remember kids, use your wash mediu!) as i need it to do a lot of the heavy lifting on this model. Ill work out the pooling areas with some dry brushing and a dark tone wash

A 50/50 green wash and medium followed by a 70/30 wash, dark tone wash adds some depth. Also also flesh tone on the face

After a final tidy of the base ad a matt coat the queen of hell is complete. Was a tough one to paint but worth sticking with as shes a lovely model. Really looking forward to getting her on the table!

The postman has been this morning and has delivered the Guardians of Asgard!! Thor, Hela, Loki and Valkeriye. Whilst I'm really excited at the prospect of getting these guys on the table they definitely seem to have a lot more detail on them which for a speed painter like me is a little daunting. Out of the four Thor seems to be the simplest option so lets get to work on the Lord of Sparkles himself!!The postman has been this morning and has delivered the Guardians of Asgard!! Drybrush stepDrybrush step

In the wash step i did break one of my rules and painted red ink straight onto the cape without adding wash medium. Ended up with a gritty looking finish but managed to pull it back with a 50/50 wash strong tone mix. Not perfect but good enough!
