About the Project

Back when Soulwars released in June 2018 I bought a set (and ended up with a few halves with friends) to expand my Mantic Undead Army and as usual with me, create a second army so someone else can play. I decided on Stormcast for two reasons. One, Sigmar and Nagash have actually worked together against Chaos at times. Two, everyone was collecting the new ghosts so I ended up with a fair few Stormcast half sets. This project will be my record of the army as it grows and a bit of the Spring Clean Challenge...

Touch ups, Liberators and Basing...

Realised after posting the Castigators that I’d missed a few bits so while working on the liberators I went back and touched up the odd spots.

I also dug out a death model to check on how I’d based them a few years ago so I could match the Stormcast basing.

Part of the fluff behind me collecting the Stormcast is that they’re actually Death but don’t realise it, hence basing them in Shyish and all the models will have sealed helmets as if they’re trapped souls in animated shells…

Finished Liberators inc Lloyd shot :p

Last model left for the 500 is the Lord-Celestant On Dracoth.  Little hesitant starting this guy, partially as he’ll by a main character for the force and partially my main brush is on its last legs so I’m awaiting a new one through the post.

Turns out I’d got the wrong models out for the 500…  I got out Retributers instead of Liberators…

At least they got part painted before I realised and swapped them out.

Went back and forth a few times between the Liberators and the Castigators before settling down and actually focussing on a unit.

Bar basing (need to find my Undead so it matches) and some help with transfers, thats those 3 complete.

A little glad to see the back of them especially after freehanding the red on the robes with a swiftly failing brush.  They’re now safely stored back in the case along with the other unpainted 12…

P.S.  After looking at the photo’s in the entry I realised I’d forgotten part of the red trim on the prime

I’ll correct this now…

This will be a real learning curve for me as I don’t really know what anything is called and I haven’t yet played a single game despite AoS being out for nearly 2 years…

It started with a list, how did it end up like this?It started with a list, how did it end up like this?

A friend of mine sent me a 500 point list so I’ve isolated those models after using the cards and GW’s website for help so this’ll be the start of it all.

As you can see, I’ve started priming some and painting others but these will be the focus to repair/paint ready for the first game after isolation.

And there's more...

Roughly every 4-5 weeks I travel to near my now local FLGS to donate platelets (an hour trip as that’s the closest centre).  So afterwards I head to the store and a few (6-8) of us have been doing a friendly 40k tournaments followed by kebabs 🙂

A couple of days ago someone asked if after we emerge from Lockdown, we could do some AoS battles instead for a bit.  So, it was time to dust off some bits I’ve barely toughed etc since it all released/bought from a friend/experimented with some painting…

First off, lets get it all together…

This could take some time...This could take some time...
