A Caster with a Pedigree
I have been thinking hard about adding a caster to this army, and there was clearly only one choice of who I could base him on.
Egg Shen Bitches!!!
Of course, is well detailed in the historical records that old Egg Shen here carries around the ancient 6 Demon Bag!!! Muah ha ha haaaaaa.
So if I’m having a Mongol caster with a huge hairy bag what is he gonna produce???
His huge balls of death of course!!!
*Huge thanks again to Chris Nicholls at Macrocosm for letting me get my hands on his balls.
Hit him up if you would like to grab them yourself!
Adding another beast to the fray.
I like monsters, and therefore Monglols like monsters too! They have a legend of the Alma, which is a kind of Yeti wild man type creature.
So I’m playing around with the idea of adding a tank to the Command unit kind of an enslaved protector to suck up a ton of wounds and allow our leader (probably a Khan I imagine!) to dish out some devastating close combat.
This bad boy is my current pick for the role…
I really like the idea of him carrying captured leaders of other factions around as a reminder!
Getting Paint Down on the Dragon
The scheme for the dragon will be predominately white, So with what limited primers I have available here, I have started the pre-shading stage.
Now to pluck up the courage to apply colours!!!!
The Dragon!
Magic wise I’m mostly focusing on ‘beasts’ and this army is no different. I have a couple of ideas in mind for beasts for these guys, but the centrepiece is, without doubt, the ‘Khan Dragon’!
And the customary ASS SHOT! @lloyd
The Minis I'm Working With
So here are the minis that will form the core of the army. Picked up off ebay some time ago, and I absolutely love them.
Any ideas on the manufacturer of them?
Researching Mongolian Landscapes
The obvious choice is Steppe Lands as its synonymous with our visuals of Mongolia.
But I’d really like to find some stand out element that I can use as a detail to further theme the army.
So after some research, I have found that Mongolia is home to beautiful Apricot trees and they go through a blossom bloom.
The combination of the almost jet black tree with the white and light pink blossoms could be a beautiful combination to make a stand out setting for this army!
Below are some more options for floral options to theme the army…
Researching Mongolian Dragons
In Mongolian myths, dragons symbolize the water element, the thunder, the wilderness, the power of the earth and the underworld. For example, if it thunders, myths are the gnashing of the dragon. Lightning strikes when a dragon rises from the sky and spits fire.
According to Mongolian belief, the lunar eclipse is also said to arise when a dragon eats the moon.
