Late war winter Germans

About the Project
Always wanted to build a late German winter bolt action army, the idea is to incorporate about 3000 points of German Heer units and Waffen ss to make a 1500 point force , which I can pick and choose from . Really just an excuse to paint loads of different stuff.#lockdownleisureleague.

Let’s start painting
Once prep is done (usually wash models in warm soapy water first) under coat all vehicles in Vallejo Matt black and then used Vallejo German colours 1940 – 1945 set to put the basic late war 3 colour pattern on ,all via an airbrush Hader and Steenbeck cult of paint model. My airbrush skills aren’t brilliant but there good enough for basic colours and modulation. My favourite part is the next part dry brushing and weathering this is where the models really come alive for me .
Models
Model choice is down to a couple of things what I want and what is available. I have used different manufacturers of the same tank on the same project before, to see which would give me the best results.warlord, rubicon, and blitzkrieg miniatures are my top three all have there merits. For this project mainly warlord games which I picked up in there Black Friday sale last year. The Flakpanzer and kubelwagen are from Rubicon.
Warlord games = Easy to build , good for war gaming not many variations.
Rubicon = very detailed , many variants within one kit ,fiddly to put together.
Blitzkrieg miniatures = Highly detailed , good weight , not much variation.
Preparation
With any project I always do a ton of research, the Vallejo paint sets have been on my wish list for a while . Vallejo ,GW ,Scale 75 I use them all whatever works. The books I’ve had for a while but picked the panzer book in smiths really good value and lot of colour plates of late war king tigers I haven’t seen any where else.
