Really enjoyed this project, it helped bring back my hobby mojo, I streamed well over 100 hours throughout the project and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Most important my sons and I have had a great time playing the game. The best comment I had was from my son James (13), I said to him once we have completed Silver Tower we could sell it because I don’t think it is something we would go back to…. his response was “no dad, you had HeroQuest well to us this is our HeroQuest I want to keep it and play it with my kids years down the line and say Grandad painted this”….. how awesome is that.

Thank you so much for the Golden button that really topped it off, /bow

Thank you.

This is it, the last miniature is another hero for the game but there is nothing left to paint for either Silver Tower or Shadows of Hammerhall.

Game on….

This will become a new project but as Silver Tower and Shadows of Hammerhall draw to a close I decided to paint up the first miniature for Curse City.

This being Morrvahl Olbrecht the special character featured in the novel that releases with the game.

Again done with 90% contrast paints and then some highlight work here and there.

I tried to freehand some runes into the cloak but it was not very successful, it is enough however for the table.

eugh, I dont like

I really dislike this paint job but I am trying to be ok with the fact it is a minion that will be on and off the board very quickly, I also have 10 of these to do and thus trying to keep it simple…..

All this painted goodness, now it is time to play

Chaos Lord joins the heroes for power

Quick one tonight, whilst the core complete it is great fun adding even more heroes both good and bad that can take on the Silver Tower.

This time it is a Chaos Lord looking to claim power from the Gaunt Summoner.

Again contrast but this time with a little more layering on the cloak to try and achieve an old leathery look, it is not great but for tabletop I am happy.

So this entire project was painted on stream and it was something I really enjoyed sharing with those people that came and support me, the conversation and interaction really helped me get through to the end.

This is the first project I have posted in quite some time and it feels good to complete something.

Really enjoying the streaming aspect and I can see myself doing this quite regularly now https://www.twitch.tv/thehobbylodge

As a family, we have now completed 3 shards of the Silver Tower so 5 more to go before we can claim the power of the Gaunt Summoner.

Thanks

Painted this up on stream last night, a quick one hour job to get it to the table.

Why clear bases

I went with clear bases because this is a board game with some very highly decorated tiles, and whilst I could try to paint bases it would result in some very odd fits.

With clear bases it means one I could cut down the project time and I think it gives a great look against the very nice tiles

One thing we like about the Warhammer Quest game is they provide cards to pretty much use any Hero character from the fantasy range, so over time I am adding all sorts of faction heroes.

The Guant Summoner

This is the main guy and so I spent some good time on him to get some of the blends better than just contrast can do on its own. But I will say for flame effects using the red, orange and yellow and allowing them to run into each other is a great way I find to blend quickly.

I am really happy with the way he turned out.

Love this model and in-game it is super dangerous, painted in two versions just to keep things interesting but painting method remains the same.

No change here, tried to stick to the 1 hour time spent so but happy with how he turned out, looking back perhaps I would have done the runes marked into his skin with a brighter colour but I ok with it.

So these were super quick, I probably spent 10 minutes if that on each of them, they appear in-game for moments and then are gone so I wanted to just get them coloured for the table.

Henchmen

Started off by getting all the henchmen done.

My technical/style here is of course using contrast but by doing this over zenith of Black and White primers from badger. I find this gives a much nice degree of shade and light areas than a flat grey primer.

then using contrast as the base colours and where needed metallics and layer paints to bring up any key areas.

My goal is always around an hour per miniature.
