So here are the last few From the Starter box and a replay of my Test game between Alice/George and the Cadmus.

For those wanting to know the method and paints used on the Tartary pack,

Most of the colour is thinned out GW Militarium Green , thinned outcabout 50/50, with re coats on the Webbing one or two tomes to darken them. We’re I have put Cammo, it has been blobs of MP paints sand, and then dabs of GW Freisland Flesh tone wash. I use the wash as, it leaves the original detail picked up by yhe initial coat of Militarum Green.

The weapons are MP paints chain mail, With Nuln Oil Wash, with stocks and grips gone over with GW Basilicum Grey, and then a final dry brush with the original Chain mail.

Faces Re thinned out GW Gulliman Flesh Contrast, with features picked out with GW  Fireslayer Flesh Contrast.

Well after my brief break from Infinty with Aeronautica Imperialis and of course Battletech, I finally got enthusiasm for Infinty back with the Release of Raveneay and the fact I’ve managed to get a copy of Defiance and it supplements .

To some extent this will simplify this project as there will be ship corridors to use in case I never ever finish my Dungeons and lasers Terrain , plus it just struck me my Doom board games corridors will work (and I have the Aliens Board game)

I also have finished a lot of figures they I brought and left on the painting table or in the case of the Tartary Army box, never even opened.

So I ‘ have finsished my 3 Ariadne Mavericks, the above box, Two out of productgion Shevasti Noctifiers and the The Shevasti TAG , which for some inexplicable reason I haven’t taken photos off, I’m no Studio painter but on the whole happy with result .

I also painted My Bearpode and handler , which have been named after Kevins nieces, Susan the older is the handler , as figure has a tablet in one hand and is a bit of a bookworm… And the Bear pode is Alice (crossed out) George, as initially on showing her the figure we told her it wanted to hug her and squeeze her and call her ‘George’ and it stuck!

Now I hope you are all sitting comfortably as I actually played a trial game of Code one to see how much the rules has stuck ( not really) and there wont be a battle report as I was to busy learning the rules to remember much. other than ‘Alice/George’ ambushed the Sphinx and bashed its head in , to be nearly ambushed her/his self by a Shevasti Gwailos, which ended in an epic C.C with both wounding the other but not being able to land the fatal blow, before the game ended on move 3.

But what this play through has proved is that an Aliens /Infinty cross over is definitely dooable with the camo/ mimicry and Surprise attack shills for the Aliens, main thingwill working out the stats, any suggestions from the more Infinty knowlegable OTTERs and COGS will be welcomed.

Perhaps the biggest push for this idea was the Ariadne Grunts and Marauders themselves. With thes figures I finally found a source for ‘non Colonial Marines’ so much that having painted the 1st 3 Grunts from the starter set I brought 4 more.

Now my 1st Figure from the starter set  the Marauder with a Flame thrower I hadn’t got the Cammo pattern to work and it took a bit of effort to get the figure to look OK.

Grunts , Marauders, Stomps Robots and Werewolves
Grunts , Marauders, Stomps Robots and Werewolves

Though I did learn a bit.

Now with the Grunts I started the same way , The padded leg fronts and jacket on the female figures was done with GW Skeleton Bone

Grunts , Marauders, Stomps Robots and Werewolves

Then most of the figure other than faces and wpns was given with a thinned down coat of GW contrast Militarium Green.

Grunts , Marauders, Stomps Robots and Werewolves

Then lines of Cammo was added with initial lines of Army Painter Acrid Earth and then Blobs of GW contrast Creed Cammo.

Grunts , Marauders, Stomps Robots and Werewolves

Finally to darken it all a bit I used a coating over all the cammo parts and the green packs etc of Citadel Shade Seraphim Sepia. This re picked out the creases toned down the cammo and darkened the Green without being too heavy.

Grunts , Marauders, Stomps Robots and Werewolves

And So it begins.

This whole idea has developed whilst painting my latest purchase , U.S. Ariadne for Infinty.  I love the figures and although I haven’t played them yet like the rules….but like a lot of games it is as much about force building and combining figure abilities as it playing.

Now this is fine if you and a friend are both building a force  and get to know your figures capabilities   but so far this has been a solo project with myself painting and building all the forces of a game. I will need to not only learn the game but also teach the others in group how to play. Now there is a beginners play guide in the starter boxes, but this sort of supposes the players have some idea about the force.

Thinking about it I remembered how I had learned Battletech back in the day  which was via a semi role playing campaign,  with the various players being members of a mech company vs an umpire led opposition.

So why not for Infinity?

I have already painted a Panoceana force   and had begun a force of Ariadne . Starting with the Crimosn Stone Starter box, then the U.S Ariadne Starter box.

One of the strange things I’ve found is that the base unit for each of the factions are some of the nicest figures in a faction be it Pan O Fusiliers or Ariadne Grunts.

With the latter you get a a very ultra modern U.S. force , reminiscent of Colonial Marines in Alien. So the idea has been developing in my is to have the players playing groups of Ariadne Grunts, Marauders etc in a sci-fi Dungeon maze vs Aliens.

In this way the players can learn how some of the various figure abilities work  learn the rules basics by playing together against a umpire led forces of Aliens , using the nice cammo figure rules from Infinity.

And So it begins.

With my newly painted Ariadne Grunts making up the player forces initially,  the Aliens will be coming from various Sources, mainly from the Aliens boardgame but also the old Wizzkids Aliens that I picked up on special at a very old games expo when it was still in the hotel up the Hadley Road in Brum. One of the later can be seen in picture above. The corridors and rooms will consist of my Dungeons and Lasers corridors plus the various sci fi sooms scratch built by Keith in our group.

One of the things te Aliens won’t have is acid blood…

1 I don’t need that necessary plot device

2. Infinity has a lot of good close combat figures , such as the big Werediggies and Bears plus ninja types and holy Knights with big Swords, acid blood would completely bugger there use so it goes. Now I may allow the Aliens a toxic spit for a short range ranged attack  but otherwise they will have to do most of their damage with their cc ability.
