About the Project

After digging through my pile of opportunity I decided it was time to finish my boxes of unpainted Dungeon Saga. I painted the starter box The Dwarf King's Quest a couple of years ago and played some nice games. I already painted the expansion The Warlord of Galahir some time ago, so I have three expansions left to paint.

After applying washes and some highlights I call the models for The Infernal Crypts finished or good enough for the tabletop.

Here are some pictures.

The heroes Arianya and Venetia, Arianya is a Naiad Demon Hunter and Venetia is a Sisterhood Cleric.

The evil champion Drech’nok

And the evil minions.

Molochs, Hellhounds, Efreets, Tortured souls, Succubi, Flamebearers, Abyssal guards and Abyssal warriors

I already started with the last expansion which is The Tyrant of Halpi. It only consists of 3 minis, but one of those isn’t so mini….

I already have them primed. Hope to finish this last expansion soon.

Red speed paint and basecoats

It’s been a couple of weeks since I last recorded my progress. Life got in the way with work (too much) and vacations, can’t complain about the last.

I managed to put on some red speed paint with my airbrush between vacations. This was a very simple task and sped up the painting proces.

Red speed paint and basecoats

I did let it dry for more than a week and then blocked in some basecolours. With the lighter colours I noticed that the speedpaint re-activated some what, after letting it dry I applied a second coat which solved the problem.

Next step will be some washes and highlights.

I did set up the airbrush and primed the models in black. I then gave them all an zenithal highlight with grey and white. I wanted to start with some red inks but my airbrush clogged at the last model I was highlighting white. Realised I didn’t realy clean my airbrush for a long time, so I got it all apart and did a deep clean.

The red inks have to wait for a couple of days.

Next up is the second expansion The Infernal Crypts.

Next expansion - The Infernal Crypts

With this set I experienced the same warping problems, but nothing what a little hot water can’t fix.

For this expansion I’m going to set up the airbrush, see if I can speed up my painting proces.

I applied some washes and highlights to the models. I think they look good enough to call them finished. While I was resizing my pictures I noticed that I missed the gem on the staff of Valandor, so that’s the last step I still have to do.

Here are some pictures.

Skeletons front and back

Zombies front and back

Ghost and Dwarf Revenant front and back

Zombie Troll front and back

Demon Lord Ba’el front and back

And last but not least (missing his gemstones) Valandor

After letting the primer dry for a couple of hours I blocked in some base colours with the old painted models as an example.

I’m starting with the first expansion: The Return of Valandor.

My first step was to inspect the miniatures in the box, I quickly noticed that 9 of the 11 models in the expansion are duplicates of the miniatures in the base game.

So I decided I want them to match the paintscheme of those minis, here are some pictures.

Then I noticed that a couple of minis had warped in the box and that my painted Skeleton Warrior had a broken arm. The arm was quickly fixed with some superglue. The warping I have fixed with some realy hot water, just put the bended part in it, the plastic gets soft enough so you can bend it back and then cool it of in cold water.

Then I primed the models with some Vallejo grey primer. I applied it with a brush, because setting up the airbrush was too much work.
