As a result of getting the rescue Mumak, I have 24 Haradrim warriors, some of which are part-painted by the previous owner. I’m fixing forward by establishing some consistent base colours across all models – new and pre-owned.

Then giving them a nice dark wash all over.

Before finishing with highlights and some details.

Pretty neat!

These look better in person, honest! They look good but it’s hard to get too much interest in to what is black robes, dark metals and a dark horse.

More Witch King

Have got the Witch King on foot and horseback. That scene where Eowyn fights the Witch King is iconic, so I needed a foot version to play it out on the tabletop. I was also lucky enough to get the Forgeworld “Stay Off the Road” diorama – so there’s that version on horseback too.

At the moment, this is the messy stage of contrast base coats. Tidying and refinement to follow!

Very, very happy with these. They’ve got a brightness and quality I didn’t think I could achieve, and the little glazes to warm the skin really bring them to life.

Basing is consistent with the other Rohan and Minas Tirith figures.

Next up is Gandalf the White and Pippin in Minas Tirith armour. I love the dynamic of these two in the movie of Return of the King.

This is a real test of two things I struggle with – painting white and painting horses. Taking my time and trying to achieve different finishes with warm white, cold white and erm, horsey white.

And here’s the finished Mumaks!

These are brilliant looking models, and I’d love to get a third as they are really fun to build and paint.

I’ve added some small tribal markings on the pennants. I also have a little tub of broken jewellery bits for model making, so fave then each some natty earrings made from broken bits.

The remodelled trunk isn’t as smooth and seamless as I know other modellers could manage, but I am happy.

And here’s the two completed Mumaks in an outdoor shot!

I’ll add the proper pictures later, but this looks pretty cool.

With them primed, I’ve been adding in colours. Contrast over the zenith primers does a lot of heavy lifting on the greys, browns and reds. But my gosh these are fiddly!
