Milmaa’s Black Legion

The Herald of the Apocalypse is here! Quite the model and I really enjoyed getting it painted!

May see some use if i ever get to play a game of 40k, if not he fits in the collection nicely!

Had this model sitting about since its release, and in my latest attempt to get back in to doing some hobby I thought I would give it a blast!

Pretty happy with the turn out, it feels nice to get a character completed and now will have to pick something else out of the unpainted buy built pile to get to work on!

Its taken a few weeks but I have finished half this Chaos Space Marine unit, I have the other half ready to get stuck into but… I need a little change up before i go back to the black scheme!

Well I was taking a look at what I had completed for this army and got it all out to grab a couple of pictures… Maybe It will motivate me to get a bit more done!

I must follow this post up with an update showing what I still need to do for this army!

So this is my take on the Renegade Knight called Litany of Destruction.. Very pleased with him I think, certainly an improvement on my other two imperial knights!

This kit has been great to work with, I must add that the transfer sheet with it was fantastic, really really helpful for adding all of that blood written text!

I started work on the beasts legs first, then stopped half way and finished the base. I went back to work on the legs and got them attached to the base giving me a good look at how i thought the finished article would turn out.

Along side these I got more work done on the arms and begun the same process to the body.

Long time coming this one, but after much starting and stopping the project is well under way!

The base needed to tie in to my Black Legion bases that I have been using, so I set about scaling up the method I used to make the terminator bases below.

I played about with a few pigments, and used the dirty down spray to add a little more depth and tone to the grey areas. Pretty happy how it turned out, especially as the time it took to get to the finished product!

Since the arrival of the Chaos Knights I seem to have taken a step back from the Black Legion while I wait on some of the Contrast black paint to come back into stock!

I have though finished some of the new terminators that went on the custom made bases!

Ive been very pleased how those bases turned out and will have to make a large batch some time in the future!

Other progress on the Knight, and the Completed terminators …

I have been using Micro Art Studios bases for my Black Legion, but as I was running low on 40mm ones, I thought I would try and make something with the hundreds of standard bases I have laying about! It should save me a great deal If I can get it right!

Part one:

I needed something to act as the concrete in my base, to form the centre piece of my bases. For that I ordered in some cork sheets, never worked with it before, but was very simple. Cut shapes out, glue to base! Simples!

I then added some sand, as course as I had to the base to give some texture;

Part two:

next I thought I needed to give the base some volume, and bulk, something to blend the concrete in to the actual base.

For this I found some simple filler in the garage and began to plaster some on the the base in various areas.

Part three:

After drying, I added more sand all over the filler, to get some more texture, and rubble.

I wanted to add some extra spot debris like cables, or helmets. For this I used fuse wiring and various bits from my bits box and super glued them in place.

Part four:

Finally once dry I had to add some paint! I stuck with my usual base painting scheme (Can be found at the start of this project) I think I am pretty happy with the results. I think they will tie in with the rest of the force quite well

Been busy adding some more fire power to my force this week and am finally pleased to say that the first set of havocs are complete!

I do have another unit of these to paint, more long range than this one, but I think some terminators might be next on the list to do!

I’ve been working a little each night this week to get these beasts done…. And we have made it!

Pretty happy with them, not sure which one is my favoured! I’ll have to wait and see who is the most effective in game!

A small update, finished this squad in two parts, the first five troops many weeks ago …

And the second were finished off yesterday!

Looking forward to getting some more of the Black Legion done, have 2 of the new obliterators from Shadowspear on the desk right now 🙂

Finally I think this guy is complete and ready to take some skulls!

Loved this model from start to finish.. Super happy with him!

My goodness I love this model… I really am trying to take my time with him and make sure I do the best job I can.

Really enjoying him so far, so much work left to do, more to come tomorrow!

Its been weeks, but finally 5 more Raptors have been completed…

Its been difficult to get these done with all the new Chaos distractions recently!

Doing a bit of playing about airbrushing inks… I believe its the in thing to do nowadays !

I’m trying to be patient with this waiting for coats to dry… I’m failing!

This weekend got the Chaos marines and lord from Blackstone Fortress finished up and based..

Had to get another batch of bases painted up so they will be ready for whatever is next!

Clearing up models that I have built, that meant getting these 5 raptors done.

I have another 5 of these guys to build and get done, but that will have to wait until I get a few things finished!

Slowly building this force up and got a Helldrake for Christmas to add to it at some point 🙂

With the addition to the Black Legion of Haarken Worldclaimer I thought I best call in some reinforcements of my own!

I have Haarken sat here in a box, but will get on to him once this unit is complete!

The first marine is almost complete, I want to get him mounted on his resin base and see how that goes before I get to work on the remaining 4!

These guys have been sat primed for a long time, but over my week off work I finally finished them all up, Will have to think up some names perhaps! Something like that would be fitting of Abaddon’s Chosen terminators!
