Time of the Daleks

About the Project
I'm trying to get the plastic minis for Doctor Who: Time of the Daleks painted to a reasonable tabletop standard, while not spending too much time on them. Since they're for a board game, the most important thing is that they're easily distinguishable from each other, but I also want them to look good.

Still determined to make the “underpainting + glaze” technique work, I thought I’d try underpainting these two with a warmer base, since their color schemes are predominantly brown, so I tried drybrushing brown and tan rather than grey and white.
Alas, this technique just isn’t working for me. I’m still finding that a caucasian flesh glaze over this underpainting is coming out very grey-looking. I’ve decided to switch to my usual “base color + wash” technique for these two.
Finishing up
I forgot to take “before” images of Davros and K-9, but they were both pretty easy to paint. Since Davros’ color scheme is mostly black and silver, I just did the same underpainting I did on the other figures, then added some silver highlights for the chair, and flesh tone + wash for his head.
K-9 (seen in the main project image) was painted dark grey, then drybrushed in light grey, then some silver, red and black details.
