The team at Best Hobby Games is working with industry legends like Andy Chambers and Gav Thorpe to bring a new Sci-Fi wargame to the tabletop soon via Gamefound. Zeo Genesis has been in the works for several years now, developing a set of rigorously playtested rules and their own range of awesome plastic miniatures.

Zeo Genesis // Best Hobby Games

In this scaleable Sci-Fi skirmish game, Zeo units are formed of one or two Zeroforms alongside a set of three-to-five Supports (some of which you can see above). Games then include one to four Zeo units per side, with battles played on a 3x3 foot table. The game mechanics are quick and snappy, meaning that games only take between thirty and forty minutes to play.

The mechanics for Zeo Genesis are based on alternative activations but each model gets three actions to play with rather than the normal two. These multiple actions allow you to do more with your miniatures, like leaping from cover and then blasting off a few shots before diving back into cover. Enemies can also react during opposing activations, so everyone is engaged in the action from beginning to end.

If this sounds cool to you, you can download a set of Playtest Rules from Best Hobby so you can try out the game with whatever you might already have in your collection. You can also check out the Dev Diary from the folks at Best Hobby and the interview we did with the team last year at UK Games Expo.

At the heart of the game are those awesome Zeoforms, known as Zeos, which are mobile and well-armed (and armoured) suits that battle on the frontiers. They are then backed up be teams of engineers, hackers, drones and other supporting fighters, watching over these elite warriors from the far future.

The Core Set will feature multipart hard plastic miniatures with plenty of options for you to play with. There will also be a bunch of 3D printable STL options to follow. Make sure to keep an eye on the Gamefound Page for more information and drop your thoughts below on Zeo Genesis based on what you've seen here.

Could this be a new Sci-Fi wargame for you?
