Archon Tease StarCraft Miniatures & Playtesting With Blizzard!
October 7, 2025 by brennon
Archon has been teasing more for their upcoming partnership with Blizzard for the StarCraft: Tabletop Miniatures Game. They have been teasing some more of the Sci-Fi miniatures and showcased the game being playtested with the folks at Blizzard.
StarCraft Playtesting // Archon Studio
The team at Archon playtested the game with veterans of tabletop miniature games as well as those new to the concept in their matched play format for the game. This meant tense, one-versus-one bouts between the Zerg and the Terrans (as you can see above!).

I already, from this early view of the game, like the scale of what Archon are trying to do here with StarCraft. It feels like it's got enough presence on the tabletop to match up with the kind of clashes you'd expect from StarCraft but without being overwhelming. A large skirmish, if you will. It feels like StarCraft lends itself well to that size of clash.

Archon also talked about the different mechanics of the game and what needs to improve and what really worked. There's still a little way to go on development, it seems, but we're already getting a good look at some impressive plastic miniatures (even in prototype form) and some nice designs on the cards.
StarCraft Miniatures Preview
Considering Archon's pedigree when it comes to plastic, I think we're in for something of a treat when this range lands. With that in mind, check out some of the painted examples the team at Archon showed off...

Well, that seems like a great set of miniatures that should paint up super well with a judicious application of Speedpaint/Contrast paint. Are you intrigued to see what Archon do with StarCraft and are you intrigued by the look of the figures and what they've been showing off gameplay-wise?
Drop your thoughts below...

Oh.
Oh no.
OH NO!
RUN!
HIDE MY WALLET!
Ooooh, this is dangerous. Dare I look at what gameplay is like..?
StarCraft … that’s a name that I’ve not heard in a long time. A long time.
Well, I’m probably going to be even more poor now. I like the looks of the zerg minis so far.
Just take my money.
Dam you Archon! (actually, thank you Archon)
I feel like Starcraft would lend itself better to a 10-15mm scale game. The models look way too big to me.
I know right! Would be so much better that way. Then you could have Thors, Ultralists, etc.
For some reason I had in my head that this would be a 10mm game but these minis look cool. Interested to see how this develops.
I think that’s two aspects colliding at this point. I agree that it feels more like a 10mm large battle setting (after all, Zerg need their rush!) but at the same time you (the player) need to make decisions *and* do the calculation that in the video game are done by the computer. Maybe the workload is just to high for a 10mm game.
Or Archon really didn’t want to make tiny minis XD
Strangely excited by this
