Bring Cyberpunk Edgerunners To Monster Fight Club’s Combat Zone
February 13, 2025 by brennon
Monster Fight Club are inviting you to dive deeper into the world of Cyberpunk with a new Combat Zone two-player starter set which immerses you in the world of Cyberpunk Edgerunners, the anime spinoff set in the world of the tabletop roleplaying game and the video game, Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners // Monster Fight Club
In this two-player set, the Edgerunner characters from the anime go up against the power of Arasaka in a new set containing everything you need to play. Using the same mechanics as Cyberpunk RED: Combat Zone, Edgerunners gives you a good entry point into a fun, quick and dynamic set of rules.

Combat Zone has no rounds or turns and actions between players flow back and forth. At the heart of this is the [Re]action System where you're always in the moment and even if you get shot at, you can get stuck in and counterattack, dodge or use special abilities to get back at your enemies.
Cards // Cyberpunk Combat Zone
Characters make use of green, yellow and red actions and depending on the actions that you take, you roll different dice or move different distances. As you take damage, the quality of these dice goes down so you'll have to make good use of your actions in the heat of the moment.
With a proven set of mechanics, Edgerunners throws into the mix a different starter option for those wanting to play Combat Zone but at a lower price tag. Replacing the standard plastic miniatures with colourful standees that represent the characters from the show alongside all of the terrain and gubbins you can start gaming pretty quickly.

What's neat is that if you want to then go that next step and pick up the miniatures, all of them are available as part of the Monster Fight Club collection so you can upgrade as you go. You should have plenty to get stuck into though as this boxed set comes with a full scenario booklet which will get you stuck into some thematic games based on the events of the anime.
Level Up Your Miniatures
All of the Arasaka miniatures shown above are available in plastic as well as in standee form but Monster Fight Club are also taking pre-orders for the Santo Domingo Starter Gang so you can get the extra miniatures alongside the Starter Set if you like.
Santo Domingo Starter Gang // Cyberpunk Edgerunners
This set comes with all of the Edgerunner characters including David Martinez and Rebecca so you can have some fun painting them to match the art. All of the stuff that you see here is compatible with Monster Fight Club's Cyberpunk RED: Combat Zone as well so if you want the Santo Domingo Starter Gang without the Starter Set you can do that and slot them into your games easily.
Could you be tempted to give Cyberpunk RED: Combat Zone a go with the Edgerunners theme acting as the catalyst?

Nope. I’m good. (Seriously 100€ for the game, 70€ for 9 minis plus VAT and shipping?)
Fortunately Combat Zone stuff goes on sale fairly frequently (at least it does on this side of the pond) so paying full MSRP straight from the publisher is less of an issue. It’s a fun game, easy to learn, small playing surface, includes cardboard terrain.
That might be but my ‘dealer’ has the stuff in stock at the same price (Cyberpunk RED: Combat Zone for 120€ incl. tax) and he’s having the lowest price in the region. So unless there’s a 50% or higher discount I’m still not touching it. Way to much stuff in the Pile Of Potential to grab yet another boardgame
There is an amazing online store in the UK that offers this game and other great MFC products if you want to compare it to what you have in your areas. ^_^ https://shinygames.uk/product/cyberpunk-edgerunners-combat-zone/
That is a very fair price for this lovely game. Not many games can boast that they’re action-packed and fun and easy to play and learn like this game does. MFC really knew what they were doing when they created this. The fan base is growing stronger day by day. A lot of people who play Infinity, Halo, Kill Team etc are flocking to Cyberpunk. I myself have taught MANY new people, including a lot of folks who have never played TT skirmish games.
I have this and the original starter box. One of the best TT games you can play. You get sooo much in the core boxes, everything you need to play. The included gangs are stellar! They give you both young and grown up versions of David. The [RE]action system in the game is unrivaled. The scenery and tokens in the game are great quality. You do not need to buy anything beyond the starter box. For all the stuff you get it’s a great value and doesn’t cost very much. You will have hours and hours of fun. Definitely definitely… Read more »
