Over on Kotaku a truly impressive work of miniature painting has been spotted that I know will have any anime fan intrigued. First, take a look at this Gundam.

Gundam

Now look at it again, but this time with the knowledge that that is not in fact a drawing, but rather a miniature that has been given a custom paint job in line with the original anime artwork of the Gundam series!

At a casual glance the model is practically indistinguishable from a regular piece of anime art, painted in a shell shaded form and with the distinct outlines that characterise the style.

Gundam Back

This fantastic paint job is the work of mumumuno53, who has worked hard to ensure that this miniature matches the style of the original show as closely as possible.

Gundam WiP

Gundam Head WiP

I think you will agree that the end result is well worth it, with even the Gundam's other weapon options and accessories getting the cartoon treatment.

Gundam Flight

Gundam Motion Blur

Gundam Sword and Half Shield

This is all very impressive, but it has me thinking: John has one of these Gundams, doesn't he? The ball is now in your court Mr Lyons.

If you want to see more of the work on this Gundam, be sure to check out mumumuno53's site.
