Frog the What Games have received the factory production samples for some of their Slaughterball Wave 2 pieces and have just published previews of them.

The Legion Conquers the Table

The most exciting of the Wave 2 previews is undoubtedly the appearance of the Legion, the Slaughterball team with a rather classic style straight from the glory days of ancient Rome.

Legion Athletes

The sculpts seemed to have been realised quite well here and I particularly like the vibrant purple colour of the models themselves. I think that having bright team colours is one of the best approaches Frog the What has taken when designing their miniatures as it makes the teams instantly recognisable and playable right from the outset.

Legion Team

Having said that, the bright purple colouration does serve to hide some of the detail in these pictures, so it would still be preferable to see a team fielded that's fully painted.

Homeground Advantage

As well as the Legion, Frog the What have shown off a lot of the various pieces of merchandise on the way for Slaughterball.

This includes dice, dice bags and tokens for each of the various teams. However, the most interesting inclusion has to be the Team Arena Game Boards.

Home Arena Game Boards

The Team Arenas are a very good inclusion to the game, providing players with new environments and challenges to face, unique to each of the different teams' home field, and expanding upon the base game.

What do you think of their progress?

Did you back Slaughterball at Kickstarter? What do you think of the miniatures? Which of the Team Arena's do you like the most?
