The dust has settled on a fantastic UK Games Expo last weekend, one in which the show smashed its attendance record once again. The final figure was released yesterday and came to 16,383 unique attendees, with a combined turnstile attendance of 30,743.

UK Games Expo

Both figures are more than double what they were just two years ago, and are a testament to the rocketing popularity of what has rapidly become the top gaming convention in the UK.

The unique attendee figure is also significant as it means, for the time being at least, UK Games Expo has surpassed Origins Game Fair in unique attendance, and to the best of my knowledge sits only behind the monsters of GenCon, and Essen Spiel. Origins will have the chance to claw back ahead next week as its 2017 show begins on Wednesday.

The Years Ahead

If you can’t wait to get back to Expo, or if the coverage here on Beasts of War whetted your appetite to make the trip next year, then block out 1st-3rd June 2018. The show will once again be hosted at the Hilton hotel, and in two halls of the NEC, plus this time some events will also be hosted in surrounding hotels.

For those who really like to plan ahead, the 2019 show will take place on 31st May-2nd June. I was kinda hoping there might be an expansion to four days in the near future, but I can live with three days of concentrated gaming awesomeness.

Will you be coming?
