The Black Templars Continue Their Crusades In Warhammer 40K

Games Workshop continue to expand the options for the Space Marines of Warhammer 40,000. The Black Templars are next on the slate with a new codex and a new miniature for the new edition of their Grimdark Sci-Fi wargame.

Black Templars Crusade Ancient // Warhammer 40,000

The new miniature is the Crusade Ancient, who has the honour of carrying the massive standards and icons of the Black Templars into battle. They drive their fellow Black Templars forward to greater acts of righteous brutality - a proper Sci-Fi crusading knight.

There are a couple of options for the adornment on the banner. You can either go for the impaled Ork skull and a plate carried from Armageddon, or a blank shield that can be painted with your own heraldry.

The Crusade Ancient retains a lot of the trappings of the classic Black Templar with the weapon chained to his wrist and the unique helmet and shoulder pad designs which fit that knightly aesthetic.

As well as the new miniature, you'll also get the new Codex Supplement for the Black Templars which brings these zealous killers into the newest edition of Warhammer 40,000.

The new Codex will come with the rules for their unique miniatures like Crusader Squads, Sword Brethren and the likes of Marshal Helbrecht and Chaplain Grimaldus. There will also be three new Detachments that allow you to make thematic armies and plenty of additional options for Crusade games.

The Black Templars are my second favourite Space Marine Chapter after the Space Wolves, and I used to have a heckin' big army back in the day. Maybe I could contemplate diving into a small Combat Patrol painting project?
