Chapter Master Raldoron Comes To Forge World’s Webstore
July 6, 2019 by brennon
Chapter Master Raldoron has been added into the mix for Forge World's Horus Heresy Series. If you're looking for a leader for your Blood Angels force this fellow is an even-tempered and deadly choice.
As a distinguished leader and tactician, he was relied upon many a time by Sanguinius to keep things on the straight and narrow during battle. His philosophy was to try and make sure that battle was won with the minimum of casualties amongst his brothers in arms.
His actions on Signus Prime were a real testament to his abilities as a commander and fighter. The miniature here is a rather awesome take on the character, cleaning daemon blood from his sword after he has just slaughtered one of their kin.
As well as his sword, this miniature also comes with his additional armaments of a pistol and combi-bolter slung over his shoulder.
Could you see yourself adding him to your growing Blood Angels force?

That is really nice looking miniature. As some one who doesn’t know much about HH I can only assume that based on him having title of Chapter Master he was first one for Blood Angels after HH had ended and remaining loyalist legions were divided into chapters.
In 30K the Legions had Chapters within them before they split.
Different Legions had different names for them and some didn’t have them in name but they did exist in some form.
The Death Guard only had Seven Companies (The Horus Heresy is some of the best Fiction GW has ever put out but wow do the Death Guard make it very clear they’re falling to Nurgle from page 1) so they could be considered “Chapter Masters” compared to the Word Bearers 100 Companies organised into many official Chapters like the Serrated Suns and The Coiled Lash.
Wasn’t Forgeworld one the premium brand of GW? I’m sorry but this mini looks to me sub par in so many ways.. The pose (foot on rock/demon hand) and the very dull paint job… at first sight I really thought this would be a toy of sorts. And they want £47…. oO
£47????
Didn’t know Forge World had switched from casting in resin to solid sterling silver (hope they are hall marked). That’s a simply ridiculous price for a single mini (that doesn’t look any more detailed that GWs plastic offerings)
Well one of my pet peeves is “just how distorted is the human frame to fit in these Space Marine Armours”. From the last load of Terminators (with the heads BELOW the shoulders) to this one. Looking at where the sling for the Bolter goes over the shoulder it looks like they simply “moved” the shoulder outwards about 6 inches in scale (they didn’t do it on the other side) to accommodate the sling, making it all look disjointed. It still amazes me to this day how Space Marines are so ill proportioned, yet we are so used to the… Read more »
It’s a ‘premium brand’ … that’s why it is 47 instead of 20 😉
I’ve yet to see any spacemarine with an interesting pose.
As such this one is much better than the one with the weird legs dropping from the sky.
Without the bloodangel icons this would make for a neat captain as he is doing something interesting with his sword.
Yeah, you pretty much pay for brand which IMO is BS with every product that has high price just because of it.
It looks worse when they want you to ‘pay for brand’ and offer something so similar for less than half the price.
This guy is only barely more detailed than a normal space marine you could construct from a plastic kit- so the price comparison is stark.
One of the problems that Marines have in their posing is that their anatomy is so #$%!ed up, and the armor that they’re wearing inhibits movement in an extreme sense.
The Primaris marines are better (better anatomy, and armor allows a little more leg movement) but they’re still a ways into the uncanny valley.
All of that said- I’ve definitely seen some marines with nice poses. I think my favorite is the Sanguinius Forge World sculpt (that mini is brilliant in all of the ways this one fails).
I agree with you Odinsgrandson, the Sanquinius sculpt was epic
I wonder how much of these problems are also a lack of imagination.
It’s not like we’ve seen them pose the regular humans in a lot of interesting ways …
One of Games Workshop’s problems is that they ‘save the good stuff’ for the characters and elites. In a way, this sabotages the normal rank and file troops (who are just never meant to be as detailed).
So Guardsmen are supposed to look boring.
Looking over a lot of GW’s poses, it seems to me that they use many of their best poses for elite Elves, elite Eldar and Assassins.
saving stuff for the ‘elites’ is rather silly when you consider the scale of the game.
It’s not like we’re looking at hundreds of models like in mass battle games.
And it’s not like the elite Eldar or Orks have such interesting poses to begin with either.
The Harlequin set is pretty boring. Heck, 90% of the Eldar are in need of an update.
I guess most of it is the result of a lack of actual competition.
It’s actually a really nice mini in the flesh, it’s the cartoon paint job that spoils it here
The shoulder being out too far isn’t something that the paint job did. And the dull pose. While the detail on the mini doesn’t look bad, it also doesn’t look particularly brilliant.
I agree that the paint job isn’t doing this mini any favors, but even with a better paint job, the mini will looks like a fairly unexceptional space marine.
Contrast this against the much better job Forge World is doing with the various Primarchs. I got to paint up Sanguinius a little while ago, and that was an extremely exciting mini.
It’s 30 quid for the show base, right?
This looks really nice! I’ve thought many times of building a Horus Heresy ‘Imperial Fist’ 30k army.
It’s £47 because they know people will pay that. If they didn’t they would lower the price to one that people will pay
fabulous looking figure shame his armour is so plan for someone so high of rank but that’s the way he likes it.
*choke* For one model? And not a very good one at that.
I have been an avid Blood Angels collector and gamer since the first Rogue Trader game was on the shelves. Normally I would have snapped up any Blood Angel release from Forgeworld. Unfortunately, not this time. The more I look at this mini the more disappointed I feel. A couple of months ago I picked up a Blood Angel Praetor and that was far better than this mini at half the price. If Forgeworld wants to continue emptying my bank account they will need to come up with something better than this.
