Games Workshop Bring Psychic Powers to Your iPhone

Games Workshop have released a new app for the iPhone and iPod touch to help you keep track of your psyker's many and varied abilities.
This app provides you with a full and interactive database to keep track of the various powers you are using, as well as providing you with an easy way to randomly select which abilities you will have during the game.
One feature I particularly like about this app is the ability to create and keep track of your psykers.
The app allows you to create a psyker character for any race, choosing which abilities you want for him, etc. and provides you with an easy way to keep track of him through the game.
The app looks well designed and easy to use, providing gamers with a nice time saving resource which means they won't have to be constantly flicking back and forth through the pages of the rulebooks.
All in all, I would say that this app could prove to be a brilliant tool for gamers and that bringing this sort of resource to the iPhone/iPad is a good move on Games Workshop's part, with further apps looking to be making an appearance in the future. Only time will tell if these are truly useful addition to the hobby, though I for one like the app's general design and look forward to seeing what the future ones choose to focus upon.

It’s very nice looking and will definitely entice a few suffering from the usual “Oooh shiney!” syndrome but the price is just astronomical for what it is. But then this is GW and we knew that already.
You’d probably have to mind control my to buy it at that price, though. Pen and paper will do fine, for now!
Being a Dwarf player in Fantasy (this is related don’t worry lol) I never had cause to buy anything to help with Magic but my friends all enjoyed the use of those Battle Magic packs that you got when the game launched. I see those as far more useful since they could just be lain down beside the unit that was the target of the spell, or put to the generals side so you knew what he had brewing in the corner. No thank you. $13.00 is way to much for that. I could see .99 cents to $1.99 and even then i would still be on the fence. Honestly it should come free with the purchase of the main rulebook.
If i ever used the powers from the rulebook this would be useful, but the only psyker i use is typhus and his powers are good as they are and he doesn’t need to test for his bog standard ones but does from the rulebook.
It’s not just a copy of the cards. it enables you to catalogue your own figures by taking photos then assigning powers at the start of the game. It also tells you which phase is appropriate for the power. If you have a remains in play power it lets you take a photo of the effected unit. It’s still expensive for an app but given that the user would have the income for the GW hobby and an iphone it’s not surprising they priced it at that level. Good friggin christ GW will you join the 20th century. Good job with this (if it works that is) but will you please stop trying to make money on crap like this. I have some advice … do an army builder application … that works … AND MAKE IT FREE. Stop price gouging on your rules and people will stop tossing PDFs up on the net for free. I really do not see why people are complaining about the price. The app is $11.99 in the US app store which is the same price as the physical cards if you buy them from Games Workshop. I would much rather own a digital product than a physical product when it comes to books and cards any day.
So now even GW phone apps are overpriced? I think its a nice shiney tool and all but not for that price!
Really overpriced IMO. Looks like GW are now competeing with Square Enix to see who can make the most expensive app possible for their loyal fan base to buy. The difference is, you’re getting a digitized set of cards rather than a lengthy 20 hour RPG.
