Hexmark Destroyers Take Aim & Crusade In Warhammer 40K

August 24, 2020 by brennon

Games Workshop has also got more grimdark goodness coming to Warhammer 40,000 and we start with the Hexmark Destroyers for the Necrons of 9th Edition! This is a new miniature which combines a lot of the terrifying elements of two different styles of Necron.

As you might imagine, this is a mix between the Deathmarks of the Necron army and the Destroyers who have become hellbent on destroying everything in their path. Instead of flying around with massive cannons, the Hexmark Destroyer instead scuttles around and prepares to take on its enemies with surprise attacks from hidden places.

They can also blast forth from dimensional rifts in order to target their enemies which makes them frankly quite terrifying. I have a friend who is really getting into the Necrons again right now and I think he is already sold on these new miniatures.

New Options For Warhammer 40K Crusades

In addition to the new miniature for the Necrons, you can also check out a new option for those who are delving into the Crusades portion of Warhammer 40,000 right now. Beyond The Veil is a Mission Pack for those who want to experience the narrative of the grimdark future rather than simply hammering armies against each other.

Here is some of the background on this particular option for Warhammer 40,000 players...

"Venture into the Pariah Nexus and battle under the baleful influence of the Necron technologies within. You’ll be able to play loads of missions at every game size and gain incredible rewards, including upgradeable wargear, new Battle Traits, and more. But beware, for the threats in the Pariah Nexus are many – a host of battlefield conditions can affect your games, and dangerous Battle Scars await… Setting your Crusade battles within the Pariah Nexus will give you new narrative opportunities, allowing you to tell the story of your army thriving (or struggling) within this terrifying celestial phenomenon."

I think Crusade is a great idea for wargamers and it should hopefully mean that people start off small and really take the time to paint through a handful of miniatures at a time. There is nothing more daunting for the majority of us than just seeing a pile of unpainted plastic. It's much easier to paint in portions and slowly work through a collection month by month.

You also have this new Chapter Approved book coming too...

Tactical Deployment Mission Pack - Warhammer 40K

Tactical Deployment Mission Pack // Warhammer 40K

In this set, you'll find eighteen new matched play missions and ways to bring themed terrain and balanced battlefields into competitive engagements. There are a lot of different options in here for those who might want to run tournaments and big events at gaming clubs which are more focused on that competitive format. The Tactical Deployment event puts the focus on the individuals to bring the terrain they need in order to play.

Talking of terrain, we also have this massive box which is going to be landing soon. Here is the Battlezone Vertigus.

This builds on the options from the Command Edition of the new Warhammer 40,000 Starter Set and provides you with a network of pipelines, ruined walls and grand edifices to battle in. I like that everything in the grimdark future is both a workplace and effectively a holy site. It's hard to avoid the gaze of The Emperor when his iconography is everywhere.
