Kill Team: Typhon Introduces Deadly New Tyranid Miniatures
March 28, 2025 by brennon
Whenever the great gun housed on the planet Volkus fires, it ruptures the very ground beneath it and this means all manner of secrets end up being revealed, including the hiding places of cunning killers. Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team - Typhon introduces new Raveners for the Tyranids AND a new Adeptus Mechanicus Kill Team battling against these terrors.
Typhon // Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
Leading the way are the terrifying Raveners. This is a smaller five-operative Kill Team, which keeps things elite and brutal. They can use their ability to tunnel through the ground to strike where least expect and cause all sorts of pain to enemy Kill Teams.
Typhon - Raveners // Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
The Raveners in the set can be built to match the standard build from Warhammer 40,000, or you can give them all distinct evolutionary upgrades and turn them into the variants that you see here. You can choose from options for the Prime, Felltalon, Tremorscythe, Wrecker, Venomspitter and Warrior. All come with bespoke, natural weapons which are used to carve up your enemies.
Going up against the Raveners are the somewhat unprepared members of the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Battleclade.
Typhon - Battleclade // Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
Hunting down relics is the bread and butter of the Adeptus Mechanicus and this team has been designed to do just that. Leading the way is the Technoarcheologist, alongside their Servitor Overseer, who guides their clanking, unthinking and unfeeling servants.
Making up the rest of the team, you have Gun Servitors, a Breacher Servitor, Technomedic Servitor, Auto-Proxy Servitor and a bunch of Combat Servitors. Whilst the Raveners are a Kill Team where every loss will be felt, the Battleclade can sacrifice a fair few of its members if the Mechanicus can get away with the goods.
This set also comes with a collection of Killzone terrain in the form of Tyranid Infestations. These would be great to use in larger Warhammer 40,000 games as well.

It was also announced that the set will feature a bunch of Hormagaunts that you'll be able to make use of when playing your solo and cooperative games of Kill Team. A nice package for those who want to play Kill Team with something a bit different. I do appreciate the more asymmetrical nature of the two Kill Teams present here, although this would have been a perfect time to introduce the jungle fighters and Tyranid murderers known as the Catachans.
Ah well, maybe next time...

As usual, the terrain is coolest part of the Kill Team box.
I think the Battleclade are cool, but I honestly do not like the Raveners.
I think the Raveners will be better once regular Tyranid players get hold of them and paint them in their regular scheme. That mock-Infinity super contrast scheme does them no favours in my eyes
New Mechanicus looks good and is always tempting, but with Northstar’s new servitors coming out in May, I’m covered for those, and new techpriests are just a kitbash away!
