Prepare for the Second Wave of the Necrons!

That's right the time you have all waited for is here, the next wave of Necron releases is up for advance order! Lets see what goodies Games Workshop have for us.
Its good to see these minis finally rise up out of their vaults. I particularly like the Canoptek Spyder. I think that they have done a really good job of making something mechanical which nonetheless gives the sense of being somehow organic.
Are you happy to see these robotic menaces arriving on the battlefield? Or do they make you quake in your power armour?
Loving all these models. I don’t think there’s one I dislike. It was about time that the Necrons got an image update and changed the way they fluffed. I love this mix of the insectoid and the xenos. The sleek designs on some armour mixed with the spiky bits at the end.
Obyron is pretty awesome looking, even if he looks a little bit like a Tau Ethereal in armour lol. But, in the same vein there was that one Tau Commander (whose name escapes me) who used Necrontyr tech…

I have got 3 canoptek spyders on order. I am also liking the wraiths so may get 3 of them also. However I prefer to use my oop metal necron destroyers as tomb blades as I like the look of the hover platform more than the new ones.
Hope you’re planning on running more than 3 Wraiths!
(that’s hardly going to be effective. 5 at minimum, my good sir, with 2-3 of them equipped with Whip Coils).

I’m not blown away by Zahndrekh and Obyron – they look like you could make them fairly easily out of the plastics. Zahndrekh for example is pretty much just a differently posed CCB Overlord with a Praetorian’s staff weapon. The plastics look great though. The Wraiths and Spyder came straight out of the Matrix films and I’d love to see them with menacing red eyes. Now I know why Forge World made those more detailed Scarabs – they match these better (even though they’re way too expensive). That’s the one. I loved some of the conversions people did of him with a group of Battlesuits all kitted out with Gauss powered weapons. Was a deadly combination with a few phase blades (?) attached to them too.

I got to give it to them, they really out did themselves this time. I think I like them all from the looks of them.
i dislike that spyder. the huge arse with a pokey-outy-thingy on it looks horrible and the front is way too crowded.
infact the only one i like is the stalker, but that reminds me of one of these http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/b/b5/Crab-droid_negtd.jpg with a ‘cron glued on top.
Finaly 2nd wave of necrons is coming. Man I have waiting these for some time.

Shall be ordering 6 boxes of Wraiths, even if I doubt ill use them all – I just love Wraiths so damn much. Had 12 of the old metal ones, still love them – but the new ones are equally awesome imo. By far my favourite unit the whole game. If I had one crit – it would be that I wish there was a Wraith Lord that could take them as troops, but I guess you can’t have everything 😛

(and I thought my hope of a Destroyer Overlord who has access to a Royal Court and a Phase Shifter was bad!)
Obyron and Zahndrekh could’ve had more interesting poses than standing still and pointing ‘over there’. Seeing as it is resin, you could repose them by heating them in hot water. I’d raise one arm up of Obyron’s so the staff is more dynamic looking at an angle (although you’d have to cut the hand off, rotate it and glue it back in, probably pinning it back in… could be more trouble than it’s worth lol). And Zahndrekh could have his staff put in the pointing hand (heating it first and wrapping it around the staff) so he’s holding the staff… Read more »
I just wish they’d release things all in one go so you don’t have to make compromises in your choices of what you want to buy. Of course it’s obvious that they want to limit your choice so that you can only buy what’s available to make your army; then you buy the next wave of minis, and the next, so that GW make sure that all their minis are sold and so that there is less of a chance of having poor sellers in their range. The flyer release has been planned, the models were supposed to be released at the same time as all the other ones as part of a campaign they’ve had in the works for some time now.

Aha! Sorry, I missed your comment as I went to and fro writing my comment and doing some artwork, and not refreshing the screen lol. I wish they’d put things out sooner in general though. They should release the models and the books at the same time, then people can pick and choose what they want without feeling they have to make do for six bleedin’ months (or 3 years like the thunderwolf cavalry). Sometimes they seem to do that, like with the cool Empire stuff coming out now, but why can’t they do it across the board?
The wraiths are the very first thing I will be ordering. In my opinon, the spyders look absolutely awesome. They are difinitely my favorite design of all the new models. They all look great regardless!
