New Titles & Classics Return For Warhammer Video Game Fans
May 23, 2025 by brennon
Games Workshop held their yearly Skulls "Festival of Video Games" this week and there were some big reveals for fans of classic Warhammer 40,000 video games and classic PC strategy affairs as well as a few previews of what's new.
Dark Heresy // Warhammer 40,000
One of the biggest reveals was that we are going to be getting a new roleplaying game from Owlcat, who previously made the title, Rogue Trader. In Dark Heresy, taking cues from the tabletop roleplaying game, you'll build a party in this classic story-driven cRPG and uncover conspiracies and heretics threatening the Imperium.
Another of the new game reveals was for the follow-up to the successful retro-inspired shooter, Boltgun. Boltgun II is going to feature Malum Caedo (once again voiced by Rahul Kohli) battling against the forces of Chaos once again.

Get back into a bit of ripping and tearing to some heavy metal music, all the time spouting your support for the Emperor of mankind.
If you're looking to dive back into some older games, two remasters are on the way for a couple of classics. For example, Dawn of War is back with a Definitive Edition that includes upgrades to the graphics as well as all of the content from the various expansions.

This is going to go down well for a lot of folks, I imagine, especially those who want to relive the older stories with a fresh coat of paint. Some people were upset that we didn't get a new entry in the Dawn of War series but maybe that will come down the pipeline once we've seen the uptake on this Definitive Edition.
Last but not least, at least for what caught my eye, we have the Master Crafted Edition of Space Marine which reintroduces the original story of Captain Titus and his Ultramarines battling both the Orks and Chaos.
Space Marine: Master Crafted Edition // Warhammer 40,000
Go back and see where it all began for Titus with the Master Crafted Edition, which again, features updated graphics and controls which make the game a slicker and more modern experience.
If you'd like to see what else was announced during the Skulls preview, you can find out more HERE. Watch more trailers and see what else you'll be able to get stuck into as a Warhammer fan. It was a bit of a shame that we didn't get more Warhammer Age of Sigmar game announcements but they haven't really landed in the past unfortunately.
Did any of the reveals interest you?

I’ve tried almost all of the WH video games, going back to Shadow of the Horned Rat, I think, and they have been at best, ok. I still prefer the physical games for WH.
I wonder how they will price the remasters like Dawn of War: Definitive Edition
It’s not definitive yet, but likely … MORE MONEY!
Anniversary edition has an 80% discount and is 6 Euro (at the moment).
DoW II was 45 and has a 80% discount as well.
Patience is your friend 😀
I would like to try the bolter game. Not a ‘gamer’ but was a big doom fan back in the day and this sparks my nostalgia
I would like to see a Call of Duty style shooter. First person, as any of the various characters/races; it would be ridiculous but fun.
I think Fire Warrior came the closest, but it did try and copy off Halo a bit too much to be called Call of Duty-style.
The only one I care about is the Dawn of War definitive. Well, that and the Space Marine remaster. So two games I care about.
Dawn of War F**K YEAH!!!!
Just fix the game interface for widescreen!
“An improved gameplay camera shows the battlefield like never before, working seamlessly on modern systems, including 4K displays. Increased draw distances make for a more cinematic experience, and the HUD and screen layout have been optimized for modern widescreen viewing.”

Well that sounds promising. I only have an XBox though.
Ye gods … how do you play that thing ?
Only RTS that I had a somewhat decent interface for console was Halo Wars and that only worked as it had a stripped down version of what a pc-version would have been like.
Everything else has been much easier with mouse+keyboard on pc.
Still no Final liberation reboot?
