Space Wolves Refresh Coming Soon To Warhammer 40,000!
March 27, 2025 by brennon
One of my favourite armies, the Space Wolves, is getting a proper update and refresh for Warhammer 40,000 10th Edition! The AdeptiCon preview this week revealed a brand new Army Set, which introduces totally revamped Space Wolves miniatures alongside the new Codex for these Space Marines.
Wolf Guard Battle Leader // Warhammer 40,000
Leading the way is the Wolf Guard Battle Leader. Split off from the rest of their Wolf Guard unit, the Battle Leader finds themselves well-placed to instill some of their experience amongst the Space Wolves under their command and takes on a role similar to a Space Marine Lieutenant in more Codex-compliant armies. This miniature will have a bunch of different options for you to play with, like different heads and weapon options. I am going for the Thunder Hammer and Stormshield combination.
The second character in the set is the Wolf Priest, who hasn't seen a miniature in absolutely ages. Fulfilling the role of both a Chaplain and an Apothecary amongst the Space Wolves, the Wolf Priests will be both reciting old sagas to spur on fellow Space Wolves but also remembering the deeds of their kin for the future.

Once again, the miniature will come with many different options for weapons and heads. I quite like the wolf skull helm but there is also a fellow with a big beard that screams out that they need to be included in the force somehow.
Watching over those two characters and seeking their own saga-worthy moment on the battlefield are the Wolf Guard Headtakers.
Wolf Guard Headtakers // Warhammer 40,000
These are the greatest veteran warriors amongst the ranks of the Space Wolves who name a quarry at the beginning of the battle and will relentlessly hunt them down until their deed is done. The Headtakers charge into battle alongside their loyal Fenrisian Wolf companions who are bonded to them. If you were an Inquisitor, you might say this is all somewhat unnatural.
This gives us another look at a different incarnation of the Wolf Guard who can also wear the powerful Terminator armour of the Space Marines. No word on them yet, but it was hinted at during the reveal that we'll get a new kit for Wolf Guard Terminators alongside a mixture of other characters returning to the fold as well.
Updated Blood Claws & Grey Hunters
Making up the rank and file of your Space Wolf army will be the updated and revamped Blood Claws and Grey Hunters. Given a Primaris facelift, the Blood Claws are still your impetuous, new Space Wolves who are looking to make a name for themselves amongst their Battle Brothers.
Blood Claws // Warhammer 40,000
Blood Claws are a solid melee option for you to drop into your Space Wolves army and can move a mighty seven inches which means they'll be closing the distance sooner than your opponent had bargained for. A lot of the older details are still here in these kits but if you still have a bitz box stuffed with parts, you can add to them should the need arise.
The Grey Hunters are your more experienced Space Wolves who have seen a few campaigns. They are still light on their feet but weild Bolt Carbines (more classic-looking Boltguns) so they can fire on the move.

Again, there seems to be a decent amount of bits in the kit for you to make a unique Space Wolves army but I reckon that some folks will still be going further afield to snap up some of the extra gubbins and bits found on the internet to really drive home the Viking/Wolf aesthetic that was more overt in the older sets.
New Army Set
All of this comes in the new Space Wolves Army Set, which will also feature the new Codex with a Limited Edition cover and the Datasheets for new and returning Space Wolves units.

It's great that Games Workshop have finally got around to releasing the Space Wolves properly again and even though the release is marked as soon, it can't come soon enough for me. It looks like we're going to be getting a bevvy of new releases for Warhammer 40,000 focused on Chaos as much as the Space Wolves so watch this space for more on that.
What do you make of the update to the Space Wolves?

Blood Claws and Grey Hunters go for that “5 bodies, 10 models” variety. Not to bad with the BC but GH have 4 (FOUR) foot-on-rock minis in a pack of 10. Space Wolves or Mountain Goats? XD
Trust me, I *will* be removing or shifting TacRoks to make some added variety – I’ve enjoyed doing that with the Jump Pack Intercessors and Tempestus Aquilons with some nifty results
Yeah, rocks gotta go… 🪨❌
I will be getting these for sure. I am very happy they kept the chainsword/bolter option that has always been typical of Grey Hunters since 3rd edition.
The poses are quite fluid. I really do quite like these and the recent Emperor’s Children releases they’re less garish than the old kits, more heresy-esque. Though it’s probably not gonna be enough to get me back into big 40k, interested to see how well they kitbash with existing primaris marine kits for Kill Team. Also, the Classic boltguns look so much better than the bolt rifles on Primaris. lol
I grabbed the EC boxed set, it’s a nice box; I imagine I’ll be getting one of these as well…
As an old Long Fang of the RT era, these make me very happy!
I like the BCs & GHs but not too bothered about the rest as they’re a bit overly Wolfy McWolfy.
This is the first 40k release that has piqued my interest in quite some time. Really nice refresh to the one of the most stylistically divergent chapters. If I manage to get a hold on one of these boxes it should be painted up in time for 11th edition next year 😂
Good looking Dogs of war figures
Well played 👏 👍
Long fangs to follow then….nice looking set. Raising some nostalgia for the original releases back in the day of goblin green bases and a blond ragnar. Think I remeber a battle report space wolves v orks over a dark angel predator in the first white dwarf I bought. Great issue, was the one show casing the release of that first warhammer fantasy boxed game – elves v greenies – I was blown away…ahh nostalgia
Like me then, you are long in the tooth. 😁
Long fangs my friend..there’s more white in my beard than orange these days 🤗
Hmm, no wolf scouts…. Was wondering if scouts would ever see light again with the recon armour seeming to take that role and if anything was going to include them I’d have thought space wolves
