Games Workshop showcased a brand new Kill Team set over the weekend for fans of all things zealous. Whether you want to throw your lot in with the Chaos Gods or revel in the light of The Emperor, you will find a Kill Team that works for you in the world of Warhammer 40,000.

Blood And Zeal - Warhammer 40K Kill Team

Blood And Zeal // Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team

Blood And Zeal is the next big expansion for Kill Team, Games Workshop's 28mm Sci-Fi skirmish game. It comes with two new Kill Teams, as shown here, alongside a new dossier packed with missions, plus expanded lore and rules. It builds on Killzone Volkus and Kill Team: Hivestorm, with cards and tokens for both teams.

The first of the Kill Teams is for the Sanctifiers. These are excellent new acolytes of the Imperium from all manner of different walks of life. Some may find themselves zealously serving the Ecclesiarchy, whilst others could also see themselves in the service of an Inquisitor or two.

There are eleven miniatures in the set, led by the Confessor. Whilst these warriors of faith don't exactly bring the heavy armour, they are protected by their raw faith and the grit to fight through any situation in the service of The Emperor. Even the most stalwart of foes might take a step back in the bellowing face of the Drill Abbot or a Death Cult Assassin.

The full set includes the Confessor, Cherub, Conflagrator, a pair of Missionaries, a Death Cult Assassin, Drill Abbot, Persecutor, Salvationist, Reliquant and Miraculist. As well as being perfect for wargames in Warhammer 40,000, these would be solid options for those wanting miniatures for roleplaying games like Wrath & Glory or Imperium Maledictum.

Ferocious Goremongers!

Going up against the faithful are the blood-crazed warriors known as the Goremongers, revelling in the shedding of blood and the claiming of skulls.

Goremongers // Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team

The Goremongers are, strangely enough, the most lucid and reliable of Khorne troops. They juice themselves up on their master's blood using combat stimms but still retain a level of cunning and level-headedness, meaning they can actually undertake the "behind enemy lines" missions required of Kill Teams.

You will note that they have all undertaken a ritualistic change to join the Goremongers. They cut off their own legs and in their place, graft a mechanical pair which gives them more bloodletting potential. Groovy and gruesome.

Fight Beneath A Saint's Gaze

These new Kill Team battles take place around a towering Imperial Shrine Statue which will dominate your tabletop.

This new set will be coming soon, so if you were eager to delve deeper into Kill Team, you've got another option in the form of Blood And Zeal. I think the Sanctifiers look fantastic and I can see a lot of people snapping up that set when it becomes available separately.

Which of the two Kill Teams do you prefer?
