April 17, 2025 by avernos
Gerry takes a look at Grey For Now Games starter set for the new fantasy game of crime and punishment with the Guards Of Traitor's Toll. The Set has everything you need to start your patrols in the city, with the exception of terrain, and the box is stuffed full of plastics from Wargames Atlantic to populate the police and populace into your polis! It's becoming pretty popular!!

The box contains everything needed for one to two players to start patrolling the streets and make the city safer for the denizens within its walls. Twelve multipart guards mean that with a bit of a squeeze, you could even try some smaller three or four-player games without having to branch out into the Busy Streets expansion right away. There are also twenty-four civilians who may or may not become suspects in the long run, and all the dice, cards, and tokens you need to play along with the full rulebook.
The A5 softback rules is well laid out and not only leads you through the gameplay but also introduces you to the City and the environs your patrols may find themselves as they track down sneak thieves, muggers, and ne'er-do-wells, all while not upsetting the fine upstanding members of the community...at least not upsetting them too much!

The figures for this are fabulously detailed for gaming with 👍
It’s a good-looking set, I am curious how Gerry finds the random distance and direction for movement, considering his hatred of random movement. I’m not a fan of random movement either, but I hope in this kind of setting, with a more narrative play, it won’t be completely unbearable.
