The Mission Statement
So, what is Fluffenbusters? Well, that is a bit of a tale. A few years ago I joined the FB group of The Fluffenhammer, a mainly (but not exclusively) Warhammer-focused hobby website, group & podcast set up by one Adam Nicol. Adam is a long-time member of the Transformers collecting scene who had been into the tabletop hobby until about 2010 then peaced out until the arrival of Age of Sigmar and 8th Ed 40k. The Fluff has been a welcome space for me and everyone in the group has been incredibly welcoming, to the extent that I am now a mod on the groups Discord, run our monthly film Watchalong, and record a Patreon-exclusive show with Adam for the channel (The Deeper Dives) where we find an article from White Dwarf and it’s adjacent publications to have a grand old natter about.
Mid-2024 another member of the group – Mr Adam White (lots of Adams here so henceforth he shall be Mr White) approached me about the possibility of doing a show where we find films that we can link to the tabletop hobby – either intentional or simply that it’s inspired our own hobby – and have a chat whilst we watch it, sometimes talking about the film, often going off on tangents, and just generally harking back to the commentary tracks that were such a feature of DVD & Blu-Ray releases but have fallen out of vogue as streaming has ascended.
Initially we released these shows under the broader Fluffenhammer podcast but to take some stress off Adam N late last year we launched a dedicated spin-off channel, and have been releasing a mixture of new recordings as well as older material.
For this first post I present our first outing where we went in hard with Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie, but will going forward focus on the shows released on the dedicated Fluffenbusters channel.
Feedback, comments and recommendations are all welcome, and I hope some of you find these shows enjoyable “second screen” content.
