Battlefoam Keep Your Rebels Safer Than A Shield Generator
May 29, 2014 by brennon
Battlefoam have toiled away and created some more foam inserts to keep your Rebel Transports and the supporting fleet safe for X-Wing: The Miniatures Game. See what you think of the specially cut foam that should be a rather snug fit...
As you can see there are a lot of different combinations on offer allowing you to take more than just the Rebel Transports to the tabletop. You can't have the big guys without an escort after all! There is of course also room for things like cards and tokens too across most of these inserts so if you love your X-Wing this could be a great choice for you.
There is a lot more X-Wing Foam over on their website if you follow the links at the top of the page so head on over and see what else takes your fancy. Personally I've seen these Rebel transports in action and they are rather fun!
Do you think you'll grab this foam?

Shame they are only available on the US site at the moment.
KR Multicase do them as well they also do the thing where you just say what ships you have and make a custom one(or two) trays for your needs
Not really a fan of KR as the foam is just too soft that your models bounce around and I was a bit fed up mending my models. Ok BF is more expensive but you really do get what you pay for imho. Xwings are really fragile where the guns are, so better safe than sorry imho, just wished the did a star wars bag. 🙂
KR and Battlefoam are great for these kind of things. I don’t really transport my X-wing stuff at the moment. Once I have moved depending on my storage situation or if they go in a cabinet may need to look at this stuff.
KR is working ok for me so far. I like the cardboard boxes, sturdy enough and not too expensive.
Stands on (KR) or Stands off (BF)? I’ve KR at the moment and while it is nice to be able to keep them assembled and put them in with their stands on you don’t get much room as a result. Whereas with the BF stuff, I’m not sure where the stands go, and presume you have to take the sticks out of the bases and ships – makes it sound a bit slow to use and prone to damage also. Anyone use these?
I don’t mind taking my minis apart for storage. You have to swap out the cardboard insert on the base most of the time anyway. I prefer storing my ships separate from their stands just because you get a lot more room that way. Storing them on the bases is very space inefficient. There are so many counters, dials and other bits and pieces to the game that I just have a plastic parts organizer full of that stuff anyway. Putting the bases in that works out just fine. I can fit the bin in my bag easily enough. It’s about the thickness of a layer of foam, and there’s enough room around the edges of it that I can fit a couple of deckboxes with the cards in them too.
Normally, I would really recommend the KR bags because they’re just better bags—better made with more (and more useful) external pockets—but BF really does a better job with the foam. They’re foam is better, and their process for ordering custom foam is much easier. It can take a long time to get an order from BF sometimes though. KR is always pretty good about getting orders out quickly.
I wish there were one company that combined the best attributes of BF and KR. They’re the two best out there right now, but both have things I wish they did differently. Barring that, I just wish it were easier to order KR-sized foam from Battlefoam. Then I could get the best bags and the best foam.
