BoW’s coverage of the UKGE was impressive. Makes me wonder if there’s an equivalent in the US.
GenCon in Indianapolis is not only the equivalent, it’s the biggest show of this kind by some way. This year it’s on 17th-20th August. The downside of it being such a big show is accommodation near the venue can be hard to come by, and expensive, but if you can stay a little further out and travel in each day you should be fine. To be fair, that happened with Expo this year as well and a lot of people were doing that. If you can get there I would highly recommend doing it at least once.

Wow, UKGE looks like it was huge. I don’t recalling hearing of it before, but being in the USA, that’s not surprising. Great coverage, and lots of new things to see. Thanks for the good work BoW folks!
So much to see and even more to do. I only attended one of the days but it is a truly unique event that carries on into the wee dark hours. Also great to see people in the surrounding bars and cafes with friends and a table full of food, drink and one of the games they had grabbed that day.

I planned to attend for the first time this year but unfortunately my injuries have had to take priority and im stuck in rehab for my leg. Hoepefully ill be fully fit soon and be able to attend next year! Thanks for the coverage, it really has given me something to take my mid off things. Even if i now have a wish list a mile long!!
Cool prizes it was a ace weekend
Had a great time this weekend enjoyed seeing all the vendors and their wares. I find it completely amazing how many vendors supplied prizes for thexample show. The 40k demo was probably one of my favorite bits from the weekend of posts. You guys did a great job covering everything at the show.

Ok so i have watched all the videos and discussed going next year with my family. Plan is too stay over and do all three days if possible and take a trolley of some sorts for lots of goodies. Looks like a great atmosphere there and very generous prizes.

Always blown away by the prize pool for the events. Who ever gets this will be jammy dancing for quite some time.
Went to UKGE for XWing tournament and found out all the games BoW was covering. Awesome people and games really had a blast. Was hoping for Shadespire for GW only had 8th Ed.
I’m setting some funds aside for a good few of these already – so any opportunity to lessen the burden would be lovely!

I didn’t understand why you offered multi-day tickets for this event. Now I do – we were only there on Sunday, and barely saw half of what you were offering. Making a weekend of it next year!
Despite it being within my rail pass, this was my first expo. I’ll be back next year. It’s definitely a board game party but mins games companies were out in force. A good day out.

As a one day visit the UKGE is okay. For gaming, rather than a shopping trip, I think a local con is the way to go.

I was going to travel up to games expo just simply to get a Picard figure from Modipus but then I realised the figure is in the next gen set which I’m planning on buying anyway. Missed them at salute this year.

I went for the first time this year mainly due to the build up coverage BoW did on the lead up to the event. I encouraged two friends to come as we are traditionally wargsmers however since having children have found a love for boardgames and family time revolved around them. We went on the Sunday and had a great day, next year we will be staying over so we can see and enjoy more of what the event has on offer. Highlight of the day for me however was ambushing Justin when he was on route to film and planting a kiss on his head! Great event and great coverage of it by you guys.

Been loving the coverage
Thanks to everyone on the team. I really enjoyed the variety in the coverage and you managed to get round a huge number of traders so we got a really good feel for what we can expect if we were to go next year. I particularly liked the occasional videos providing a feel for the other activities and the atmosphere around the place. I really liked the feel of this event that you transmitted very well through your pieces and it is certainly something that I would like to attend in the future – maybe even next year.

So far the expo has been the most interesting with GW being so forthcoming for what 8th edition plays like. I guess they know they got to keep the hype train going and prevent the sudden shock of how big of a change AOS was.
