As has already been mentioned, the situation is insanely chaotic and unpredictable, and yes, that will do more damage, especially to smaller companies who aren’t able to ride it out.
I was pretty much done with crowdfunding before this all started, but if I hadn’t been, I would be now — committing to buying a product without knowing how much shipping will cost seems like folly at the best of times. I can’t be the only one thinking that way, and since crowdfunding has taken over such a huge chunk of our industry, I don’t see how we get through this without seeing a lot of shrinkage and/or sharply rising costs.
In any case, please know that US “leadership” does not reflect the will of the actual people who live here. I suspect that even people who voted for him are scratching their heads at the very least, and hopefully at least some of them are in for a reality check when their grocery bills start skyrocketing.
Until then I suppose we can hold out hope that he’ll lose interest in tariffs and move on to some other attention-grabbing scheme soon.
