Hey everyone, recently a friend and I got together to build some scale model warships, and it occurred to us that we could wargame with them. I currently have a sizable collection of 1/700 scale warships, ranging from modern Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyers to World War I dreadnoughts, and I want to do some naval wargaming with them. I want to do modern combat, seeing as most of my collection, as well as my friend’s consist of modern warships. Is 1/700 scale wargaming even feasible, and what modern naval ruleset should I use? Thanks in advance.

For WW2-themed naval wargames, I don’t know if 1:700 would work for it, but I can recommend a look at @ecclesiastes “Naval War” system, linked here:

We used this as part of our 75th Anniversary commemorative article series on the Battle of Midway (also linked below):

The Naval War system is pretty scaleable (I think it’s mostly written for 1:1800), usually intended for smaller battles than Midway, and from what I understand mostly for “gun battles” as well as air strikes like we see in Midway.
