Does anyone care about a Giftmas this year?

Is this something that anyone else really wants to be involved with anymore?

If you mean in general… then not really.

As a child I looked forwards to it, but as I get older it becomes less of event.

My parents enjoyed it more and they and long gone, so it’s just me and my sisters really.

Fewer gifts are given as there less to people to buy for and no one knows what to buy each other as we have what we need, so it oftens ends up exchanging money which is pointless.

Short answer: yes, kind of

Long answer: Yes, but I really don’t want to be the organiser. As you well know the number of participants in 2024 was something I would describe as “has much room for improvement”. This leads to 2 – 3 being on the same continent. So unless participants are willing to pay insane shipping fees I see a little problem.

I’d suggest to wait until the end of August to see how much traction (if any) this thread gains.

Giftmas and Secret Santa are such nice ideas/concepts but only work if there is a majority on board. One ant can’t move the ant hill.

I have enough trouble trying to think of gifts for family in real life (which usually ends up the day or week before … ) never mind thinking of stuff I’d want, so nope. Not even going to try this for people I don’t really know with a deadline I can’t afford to miss.

I do like watching the unboxings by the OTT crew whenever some crazy dude sends them something for christmas and I’d be happy to contribute in some form if need be.

I did it last year, and probably missed the rules but at least I got gifts out.

I’d do it again, only this time I’ll read the rules.
