LAF is another (the only other) place I go for news and discussion.

 

Anyone else experiencing that LAF is a generic landing page tonight? Like it’s ceased to exist?

Would be a shame to see it die.

Seems like something went wrong there. Maybe they haven’t renewed the registration of the domain and now someone nicked it? Or a software update went horribly wrong. Server doesn’t really give any useful information back

Looking into the internet archive seems like there was trouble with the forum in June that is similar.

Is the forum still owned by Northstar Nick?

I think Nick still owns it. It was fine until yesterday night. Weird.

Ah, they had an attack:

Hi all,

Last night (around 3 am onwards), we got bot crawled again by a new set using “Yandex”.

I had to get our host to restart the web server today to get it back online. Currently, I have Cloudflare on the “Under Attack” (which is why you’re seeing lots of verification pages), and I’ve blocked where those bots are coming from, but it seems that these bots keep switching up their tactics and come from different places every few weeks. A real shame, but I’m on it! Thanks for your patience thus far!

[Sidenote: the forum software they are running is badly outdated. It was released February 01, 2021. V2.0.28. Newest release is 2.1.6 from June 26, 2025. This is why you need to keep your software up to date :S ]

Ha! Too funny. It’s an old forum indeed. Not as bad a TMP, which is stuck in the 90s, though lol
