cheers I will have a look at these brushes
June 17, 2020 at 7:03 am #1540054What about the tape used for tennis or squash racket handles? It’s slightly soft and somewhat water resistant.
June 17, 2020 at 10:34 am #1540210That’s a thought, will try if the Oyumaru doesn’t work. Unfortunately mute point at moment as hands have flared up and can’t hold anything for more than a few minutes ?
June 17, 2020 at 10:39 am #1540211If you can’t paint, is it possible to do other hobby stuff like “sorting bits box and materials” or general “cleaning up hobby space”? You know, those tasks most of us but off until we can’t find any minis on the table 😉
June 17, 2020 at 12:55 pm #1540273Oh painting space has never been so clean, depressed myself by going through the lead/plastic mountain (12 unfinished projects on the go and that’s only the active stuff) but hopefully quacks will sort out, on more steroids than a east german shot putter and due a change in meds so hopefully they will calm down in a few days ?
June 29, 2020 at 4:45 pm #1544753Just a quick update to say thanks for all the advice and it worked ?
Not the neatest of jobs but i can now handle the paint brushes (although got to get rid of 40 years of muscle memory)

And thanks to this and the miracle of modern drugs actually started painting again, finishing of some Star War Legion Rebels and starting some Italian Wars Handgunners.

Milk bottle tops a temporary measure while awaiting painting handles from RGG

I hope that your able to keep momentum, in both healing and hobbying. When I used to do more technical drawing a lot of people struggled to keep a comfy grip without any underlying conditions and they managed to find quite a few options for pen/pencil grips. With a quick google the sort that I’ve used are just the triangle ones but you have a few options here.

July 1, 2020 at 10:19 pm #1545608There’s load of options if you look for “pen grips” and “arthritis”, as pens are more prevalent in every day use.
These should help for normal “round” paint brush handles
These look something along the lines of what you have been using (and look washable too)
..and finally there’s some bigger options for totally adjusting “how” you grip the pen/paintbrush that may/or may not help?

You might need to pad out the brush for use with this tho
My Gran went down with Arthritis in her mid 30s and suffered greatly when trying to grip pens for any length of time (so I feel your pain).
Edit found these, they are “bigger” handled cheapo sable brushes. They might help if you are able to still hold a brush normally.

You might be able to find similar for cheaper elsewhere (but there’s no manufacturers make on the brushes to find out)
