Did some more 3rd edt. inventory. Oh boy XD
January 24, 2026 at 7:39 pm #1960921January 24, 2026 at 8:02 pm #1960922January 25, 2026 at 9:41 am #1960984@sundancer On the UHH you wanted to know if certain RUBs stacked on top of each other neatly. Was it the 9 litre on top of the 48 litre ones that you wanted to see? I have a 48 litre in the cupboard I keep my boardgames in so can take a couple of photos for you if you like?
January 25, 2026 at 10:27 am #1960997I wanted to know if two 4l (or 9l, both have the same footprint) stack next to each other on a 48l (or 24.5l) Any picture would be welcome 🙂
January 25, 2026 at 11:13 am #1960998Here you go then 🙂

As you can see they fit fairly securely two across the top and for width they are fine and would stack securely. There is a spare bit though – about 70mm between the two which may also be useful for stuff that doesn’t fit into the RUBs?
January 25, 2026 at 11:20 am #1960999January 25, 2026 at 1:27 pm #1961006I got a first aid kit … somewhere. I think it’s in the kitchen. 🙂
I’d also say that complacency with this sort of stuff is the bigger danger.
If you treat it as the insanely dangerous thing it is then nothing bad will happen, unless you are really really unlucky.Had to do another quick visit to the yellow blue furniture store for the two extra shelves I needed, but couldn’t carry when I got all the other stuff (I also forgot to count how many shelves I had planned ;)). I think this was my fastest shopping run yet. I used the sort-of hidden short cut to get to the magazine and grabbed the things I needed. Waiting in-line at the self-checkout was the longest part of that visit. (why don’t they have a normal checkout with humans doing the work ? I should get a discount for doing their own work /rant)
With a umpteenth revision of my plans for the construct done (after a lot of cursing as Gemini once again managed to FUBAR the plans I had almost done) I think I am ready to go ahead. I didn’t get any shopping done yesterday due to having to wait for an eternity for the package to arrive. So glad I stayed at home, because there’d be no way I could have picked that one up at a local pickup point (or at the DIY shop itself). Too heavy for me.
Anyways … happy fun times with lots of building ahead. Provided I can source all the materials and things go as planned (ha! optimist that I am :D).
January 25, 2026 at 11:28 pm #1961039Ah resolutions…. No I’m not one to go in for them; although I have some general hobby goals for the year and I am a bit behind where I would have liked to be so that might count.
pledge for the week is to try get more than a single day where I can sit down and paint for more than 30 minutes
January 26, 2026 at 10:55 am #1961092Flock it! It is snowing since 5am this morning. I’ll be walking home if this continues. :S
On the subject of that: I hope all of our US based community members are safe. Arctic temperatures are no fun when power goes away.
January 26, 2026 at 11:03 am #1961100Pledge: keep pushing on my unpainted hoard
January is going ok for my pledge. I’ll actually meet my resolution. I got stuff done quickly by accident and setting a low bar. Project progress builds on hobby steam. I’ll do more work on things.
January 26, 2026 at 11:49 am #1961117I had a game of Midgard on Sunday prior to a Burns Night supper. Here we are with hope in our hearts in turn three:

I was playing Slough Feg and his Drunes (at the top of the picture) against the Draugr, 300 points each. A close game that lasted a fair while which is unusual in Midgard, perhaps helped by playing narrow end to narrow end of the table, condensing the battlefield. We both started on 8 Reputation and after I got the first attacks in I was up to 12 and the Draugr down to 7. Sadly it didn’t get any better than that. As might be expected the undead ground down their opponents and we called it when the Draugr had 6 Rep and I was down to 3 Rep, with three combats that I was likely to lose, each costing more than my remaining Reputation pool. Still fun though, apparently 😀
Still chugging away with my pledges. I’ve got the cavalry unit to do to get the Earth Tribes finished and if I can knock out the last unit of the Speedpaint Pen Romans by close of play on Saturday I’ll have painted 100 miniatures this month, easily the most I’ve ever done in a month.
January 26, 2026 at 12:42 pm #1961118I got slightly side tracked by painting some of the fallout minis last week. The ones from the wasteland box are about the worse minis I have had to paint. I think it is the type of PVC plastic they use but the details are often lacking and paint rubs off with just a slight touch.
I did manage to complete the flames of war painting ahead of schedule which was the end of this month. I still have a bit of work with transfers but they are ready for the table and have seen action already in a ver close loss.
I have also made a start on painting the undead for the SoulBlight Grave lords with 3 models already done. On my list is to complete the spearhead by the end of March. While it feels a lot of time we are already approaching the end of Jan.
Three weeks into 2026: what new years resolutions are already out the window? (If you had resolutions)
So far we are on track with the resolutions in some respects a little ahead of the game. I have lunched into the new year with a flurry of painting activity. It may not last but we are over 30 models painted for the year already.
January 26, 2026 at 10:00 pm #1961225Another round of shouting at the ‘AI’ done …
I’ve also ordered a few bits for that project, because it is better to have them before I need them. Finally managed to get a second layer of primer done on one of the four sliding doors I’m supposed to be painting. Not 100% convinced 2 layers are needed for the other panels, because this felt more like fixing the slightly iffy first layer.
I hope I can start laying down the actual paint tomorrow.
The worst part is the forced wait between primer and painting. It risks me losing focus, because the actual priming was a few minutes work at best. If I had space to work on all 4 panels things would be going much faster.
Anyways … I think I’m getting back into the grove with my hobby mojo.
Or maybe it’s just my way of making sure I don’t follow the depressing stuff that’s happening in the outside world.
Whatever it is … best not to think too much, but enjoy the mojo while I have it.Music that feels appropiate:
