30 PAGES!!!! The original version by Mongoose was 95 pages (and people were moaning that it was too simplified at that page count, although I quite liked it). Doesn’t sound good for the new set 🙁

BTW just found out you can buy the Original Mongoose publication at Drive through RPG as a PDF (along with the later supplements), So I suppose if you find the new Victory at Sea rule just TOO brief you could always just buy the PDF to upscale the rules (and still use all the ships)

The playtest rules of the VaS 2 pack were 48 pages, and once you factor out empty pages, the very specialised rules most people would not use the core game came in around 30. The shipstats were in a separate pdf as were the scenarios.

All the ships stats are on cards now so that saves a few trees.

I loved that unboxing video! Gave me a good understanding of what they were putting in the box. At the same time I am rather confused by the small rule book. It seems like there are quite a few diagrams but it could still be over simplified.  Can’t wait to see a playthrough! 🙂

Rules overview is up on the Warlords site.  As predicted, a total different system to the original Victory at Sea.  More like Black Seas.  I’m happy to give it a try.
