Hi guys.
Making a endor legion hill with downed atat. I am getting ahead of myself and getting on with the build, but looking for a rigid thin base material to fix my hill to. Is there anywhere local to northern ireland than supply 3mm mdf board or equivalent . I would prefer the mdf but hard to find at 3mm. What about the hardboards you can get in b&q with one side smooth and the other rough?
I used some white faced hardboard to make some roads a few years ago, I put the terrain on the plain wood side. They’ve lasted well, after 8 years only a couple of bits have a little bit of warping and it doesn’t affect the look.
As an alternative to wood have you considered PVC foam board? Much lighter than wood and easier to cut.
Foam board.. is that the stuff with a papery finish with foam in the middle. Foamex ?? Theres a few sign shops which should have it close to me. I’m trying to avoid the thing warping at the edges and not sitting flush.
Thanks
No, that’s foam core. This is different, it’s like sheet styrene but made from PVC, very useful stuff. Not too expensive, maybe worth ordering a sheet or two to experiment with.
Just an example, eBay has plenty of options
