I played decades ago using Tractics II, Angriff! and TacForce.
What rules do you use these days for WW2?
What rules do you use for modern armor?
Blitzkrieg Commander, but judging from your previous choices you’ll want something way more detailed. I use Cold War Commander for recent conflicts.
I posted this same question on Facebook as well and the answers were Fistful of TOWs 3, Jagdpanzer 2, I Aint’t Been Shot Mum, Blitzkrieg Command 4, Modern Spearhead and The Armored Fist: Combined Arms Combat in the Second World War.
Just curious, is there a reason we’re not mentioning GHQ Microarmor?
Is this a system you’ve already tried and didn’t like?
I think they started with “moderns” (or what was moderns back when this system started) and ten retro-expanded back into World War II.
Granted, their website’s not the best, but I used to like their system (platoon based, not individual vehicles, if memory serves)
I’ve only got modern micro armour. I use Cold War Commander. Cold War Commander II is being worked on now so I’m pretty excited.
I didn’t mention GHQ micro rules because they essentially have no command and control or morale mechanisms. They are very much old school, just focused on competing armour and AT technologies. That may work for you, but it doesn’t for me.
I’m still waiting for a really good ruleset to replace Cold War Commander. It wouldn’t have to be very different, slightly tweaked command, and maybe threshold levels so 20 HMG weren’t as good a tank killer as a 120mm smoothbore. It would also need some porting of tech from Future War Commander, ECM primarily. Incidentally one technology advance, drones, makes the wargamers all-seeing eye less of an issue.
Indeed, @torros – we featured these rules (albeit very briefly) on our Ops Center video series on Sitrep Podcast.

@khusrau – Command and control is indeed lacking in far too many wargames, especially modern ones. The excuse is usually “well, everyone has radios.” Even my favorite games don’t have it and we often have to plug in scenario or house rules.
I won’t suggest this because I’m certain this wouldn’t for you either, but to mention in passing, GDW “Assault” series is far and away the best *ahem* “modern” (i.e., 1980s) battalion-regiment-brigade level game that I’m personally familiar with, that really did have very good command and control rules (especially restrictive to the Soviets). But it’s the wrong medium (not 1:285 micro-armour) and so far as I know never made it out of the 1980s.
In all, sounds like you’re set to design your own game system. I look forward to see what you come up with.
