Very happy with this big boy! I’ve had the kit sat there for a long time, so its well overdue.

The model its self, looks cool, looks like there are plenty of options for posing with some minor adjustments it looks like. So on my next one of these I might try my hand and making it look a little more unique.

The Gatling cannon is awesome looking and I suspect I’ll try using it the most 🙂

Blood Angel Smash Captain

Ive been missing a generic Captain for my Blood Angels, and had decided to build one of these “Smash Captains” I had heard so much about online!

First I wanted him to stand out from the rest of the army so I build a rocky base to give him a bit of a height increase. I mainly used sanguinary guard bits to make the model itself. I added a shield from the Adeptus Custodes set, with a few Blood Angel markings added on. The hammer head is from the Blood Angel terminator captain, and is attached to one of the Encarmine axe hafts.

Paint wise, I’ve airbrushed the black primer on to all of the model, once dry I’ve sprayed a light grey colour from the top of the miniature, at a slight angle. I’m hoping this can help me with shading the red once I airbrush that on.

I have the base reds down, first Mephiston red, then I added Evil Sun Scarlet. That was sprayed from the top of the model again at an angle.

After it was dry I gave it a very light dry brush using Troll Slayer Orange. That was just to try and pick out a couple of the armour edges.

The face is base coated, and the hair… Plenty more work to do!

Further progress on the Smash Captain..

A few washes done, and most of the colours done. Need a little more tidying and highlighting. Bit more work on the blood droplets to be done too.

Trying to make sure I do a little each night at least! Tough after a hard days work I must admit 🙂

Done!

Finished the smash captain finally last night, pretty happy with him, fits in with the rest of my Blood Angel force.

I did hum and  haa over if he should be red armoured or gold… I decided with the red in the end as well hes just a generic captain, and wanted to keep the gold armoured guys as the special characters or Sanguinary Guard 🙂

Weekender and XLBS hobby!

Bit of work on the Conquest magazine minis this weekend while watching the Weekender and then continued while watching XLBS.

So with the magazine issue 2 and 6 you get 3 easy fit Plague marines. I actually already have these three already with the First Strike box. I wanted to make sure I didnt have 3 sets of exactly the same marine in the army so I ordered a box of the multi part Plague Marines so that I could interchange parts etc.

The first image is of a multi part marine built and sprayed with the DeathGuard green.

Second pic is the much the same with one of the easy build guys in the front!

The last 3 pictures are the three replicated marines together so you can see how i have tried to change them up. The hardest I found was the guy with the bolter. With my limited converting skills i attempted to hack certain bits off and add tiny little differences. The other two I found a bit easier to change weapons and arms etc.

Have been looking forward to this miniature, have always loved the idea of a model drawing a sword from a scabbard… Now its a real thing!
