About the Project
I'm off to Ireland over Christmas to stay with the in laws so I'm going prepared. Once I get past the being social bit I have 84 Frenchman to paint. This is a challenge as I'm going to be distracted by constant food and drink but before I go home at the beginning of January I hope to have them all done.The first time I was aware of the Napoleonic wars was as a small child looking at the soldier on the cover of the old Quality Street tins. No Redcoats though all french thanks to the new box sets from Perry Miniatures.

Getting Ready
The two box sets. I'm going to use the minis for Ospreys Chosen Men Skirmish games
84 Minis split up into different units so lots of different colour schemes to do.
Perrys always have a good selection of colour guides.
I have given them all an undercoat and textured and flocked the bases so while I'm away all I have to do is paint them all. Bit of a backwards way of working but I didnt want to take the flock with me.Day one
First day in donegal and only one soldier was damaged in transit
Do Contrast paints work on historic minis?
So far so good for my first unit of French light infantry. I have to pack away for lunch
After lunch progress
End of day. Nearly finished but time for dinner and being social with in-laws. I forgot to bring my colour guide but I think theses guys look alright. Need some tidying up tomorrow. Its hard to be tidy with contrast paints with detailed models but I'm getting there. Day Two
This morning I got to work finishing off the ten light infantry 
Contrast paints worked OK but had to finish some tiny details such as cuffs with a spot of highlighting 
Rear details
Next unit are Swiss Grenadiers but I left my painting guide at home so had to Google images 
I had to stop for roast dinner and a walk before carrying on with these red coated Swiss 
I got some colours down before tea time and hopefully finish this unit tomorrow
Day three
Today's unit were the Swiss Grenadiers. Its a bigger unit
I find contrast paints a bit too precise for my style 
Still need to do some detail work 
I had to stop painting because I had to go to the pubDay four

New minis for Xmas for a different project. Best put them away and not get distracted. 
Shame the napoleonic influence on Quality street has been down graded to this. No painting ng today
