About the Project
Short project showing off some scratch built terrain for Frostgrave. TerrainFest expansion - October 2023 This will have new terrain pieces and a revisit to Frostgrave Terrain that was lost in the Beasts of War version 1 to version 2 crossover. (The old stuff was basically on a forum topic of its own and the new version didn't support it) I haven't seen some of it out of the box in years so I hope I can spring clean it into something I can be more proud of today.

The old stuff...
A paper terrain freebie from the Osprey website became something more 3D with some coffee stirrer embellishments.
These magical wells that somehow encouraged grass to grew even amongst the permafrost around looked like a fun use for these bits of packaging. And again with minis...
The minis seem to fit just fine on the new terrain. There's often a problem staying true to the amount of movement you have when negotiating ladders / climbing etc. Depending slightly on the basing my ladders allow the mini to stay closer to the actual movement and height minis have been able to get to.
The terrain laid out looks quite good. I think I need more walls and ruins, but it's nice to see them down on the table. Years ago I picked up some pound shop sticky backed paper (probably draw liner?) The pattern looks like snow / ice / rubble? But doesn't really draw the eye away from the terrain which is great. And on a very similar note...
I had a very similar piece of packaging that got the same treatment. This time I only built up one side to hopefully make it a slightly different prospect as you decide to scale it.
The make shift nature of the piece and last minute repairs all adds to the narrative that these represent in my head canon about these.Finished off
TerrainFest Expansion.
These packaging pieces have been found in the seasonal / sale aisle at Lidl. They worked out well for my bridge and watch towers.
I build up the sides with supporting pieces, all supported with PVA. These three supporting pieces aren't coffee stirrers. They are an odd shape. Not ice lolly sticks. Not tongue depressors. But sadly I can't ID where I got them from.
