About the Project
The new expansion for The Silver Bayonet was available at Salute 50. I picked up my copy and the game inspired me to get back into my collection. Painting up some of the new bestiary from the expansion and some minis for my investigating warbands.

Woodsman and Austrian Doctor.
The basing is fun on the Woodsman. The tree stump is a resin piece of sprue with an axe from a medieval archer sprue glued on top. The plant behind him is made from metal bits of sprue and swarf. Just glued down and painted green. The mini was primed brown and i used some brown Contrast colours over different areas to break up the clothes types Living Scarecrow
I was hoping to find a kitbash solution for some living scarecrows but I got these official North Star metals instead.Ghoulish Vampire - Vrykolakas
Made from Warlord Games Nachtjager I found on eBay. The full box of 4 was cost prohibitive, so picking up a couple suited my needs.
Vrykolakas are from Greek myth, but the whole region have similar tales of a vampire type creature. It is less of a shape shifting nobleman and more of a ghoul that drinks blood.Bat-tastic
Some of the missions require bats, not unexpected in a vampire inspired Eastern European expansion. Bats are probably going to make an appearance in Frostgrave, Rangers of Shadow Deep and Ghost Archipelago at some point so I picked some up online.
Metal giant bats from North Star. Had some flight stands with clear bases so I can crowbar these into a variety of games. French reinforcements
Gringo40s do lovely minis and these are no exception. Even though they are from th same range they are surprisingly quite different in height. I used a thinner mdf base and cut the puddle / tab base away from her feet. And with the gentleman I added some offcuts from her base under his puddle base and put him on a slightly thicker MDF base and hopefully this takes the edge off the disparity in height.Four eyed Dog faced Ogre - Căpcăun
My version of a Căpcăun. (Based on a Rottweiler for his coat.) He's at the edge of his cave and the adventurers have clearly interrupted dinner ... Or served up dessert. The locals claim that the beast has 4 eyes, but now we can see him up close, his orange eyes and orange brow markings give that impression at a glance. Those that live to tell of an encounter with this beast... Generally only ever have time for a glance.
This Hasslefree miniature finally found a chance to shine and get painted. (Hope Justin doesn't disapprove of the dangler, but with a loin cloth I imagine he would look less ferocious) I realised he isn't ogre sized like the official North Star mini so went for some cool basing to make him stand out.The Forrest Witch - Muma Pădurii
They have made an official Forest witch mini, but I find part of the fun of exploring this game is to kit bash and add my own flavour to how my games of Silver Bayonet will look and play out. Muma Pădurii in Romanian folklore is a mad or hag type woman of the woods and in The Carpathians expansion she is a witch in the first solo mission. I had painted a Necromancer for a Frostgrave North Star painting competition and there was an apprentice in the set. The model isn't particularly hag like, but there's something about the hunched posing and the sculpt that was enough to pick this out as my Muma Pădurii.
